Do you use bar soap or body wash when you bathe?

Bar soap and I also started using a shampoo bar I have bought from a couple of sellers on Etsy.

I like a bar soap by Hand in Hand. It's palm free. Lathers like crazy. I also buy bar soap from the etsy shops.

I tried body wash years ago. Got some at the health food store. Couldn't stand it.

:D

I've mentioned this before. Like you, so called "Body wash" is a just silly. It's basically watered down bar soap as far as I'm concerned. Bar soap all the way for me. And not fancy stuff either. Imperial Leather for me. It's a long way from being special in modern terms, but what it does well is get me clean. Why change?

Japanese Long Strip Rubbing Bath Towel, Back Exfoliating Scrubber, Body Back Scrubber Towel For Shower, Bath. l use body wash and place a few drops of it onto the scrubber, and moosh it up until it suds up. Bar soap doesn't work as well for that. Of course if you can't control yourself you could use half the bottle of body wash at one time. ln that case, stick to the bar of soap.

"Body wash" liquids do work better for camp showers though. You get through the process quicker and need much less hot (warm) water from your shower bag.

You can make a bar work of course. Get wet, shut off water, soap up, turn on water, rinse.

Bar soap that I make here at home, usually a 5lb batch, I'm not sure how many bars that yields but I only have to make soap once a year or so.
Ingredients are household lye, olive oil, coconut oil and palm oil. Lavender essential oil for fragrance. No coloring pigments......it comes out a beige color.

I'm addicted to the rich piney smell of KISS MY FACE Pure Olive Oil Fragrance Free (bar) Soap. I've used it for many years.

I bought Kirkland body wash (I don't remember why!) YOU CAN'T RINSE THE STUFF OFF, there's a clingy fake apricot-like smell --too strong, and I've got like a gallon of it to use up, poor me. I don't recommend it.

We use both but, I prefer liquid shower or bath stuff. I used to like The Body Shop but their branches are closed now. You can still buy online but, I tend not to buy the same things every time so, like looking at what's new and which ones are on offer.

I use body wash, bar soap leaves a buildup of scum on my shower that is a pita to remove, after trying many different brands I've settled on Ivory body wash, comes in different scents and no scent, I like the no scent.

To those of you who use bar soap…..

I use Dove soap because of how well it moisturizes my skin. Has a faint pleasant fragrance.

I’ve tried numerous other bar soaps including many expensive boutique type soaps, special mixes, homemade bars etc and in every case my skin has a squeaky feel to it. Not squeaky clean which would be fine, it’s a residue or something that creates friction when I pass my hand over my skin. It’s difficult to explain, can anyone relate?

Caress Soap used to be the only other one I could use other than Dove, but sometime recently they changed their formula because now it feels squeaky too. 😣

That sounds reasonable. I do have a couple bottles of "Pomegranate" body wash in the shower. Why two? I'm a man, and when I wanted to try it I thought two was better than one. Which illustrates perfectly why I need a woman in my life. :D

My DIL's father bought a case of soap made with volcanic ash. No idea why. He gave DDIL & DS a bunch but they use liquid soap in the shower so they gave it to us. Free soap that's fine for the shower? Yes, please.

It would have culturally been poor manners to turn down a gift from her parents.

I use that body wash stuff, but a bar of soap for my face.

For some reason, when I hit around 40 or so, my face started getting flaky. My wife gave me a bar of Dove soap, and I've never had a flaky face since. I've also never had to buy a bar. A new one just magically appears every so often. LOL.
My husband says the same thing about laundry - he puts in the hamper and not too many days later those same clothes reappear in the closet or his drawers. Likewise my gas tank. I mention that it's dropping near 1/4 of a tank, and the next time I drive somewhere, it's magically full! šŸ‘©ā€ā¤ļøā€šŸ‘Ø

Already posted that Dove body wash is our choice. Not mentioned by many is what is used with either bar soap od body wash?
We use his & hers exfoliating pads & sanitize regularly.

I don't like the butt crack cleaning mental picture Ronni paints.

"I don’t use body wash and a scrubber or washcloth like ā€œeverybodyā€ does!

Nope. I just use a bar of soap which I rub everywhere, use my hands to lather it up, rinse off and I’m done!"

Dove soap is known for the moisturizers it contains. It’s what I use. If you believe the hype it co twins more moisturizers than any other bar soap.

I wonder if your face just needed some hydration and a dab of moisturizing lotion would have had the same result?
