Does anyone else just take it a day at a time

I've never understood "taking one day at a time." Is there another option? It's like telling someone to "stand with the soles of your feet downward."
I think of the one day at a time more along the lines of worry or fear of future events...Some things we worry about never happen and so to me the phrase means live this day and don't dwell on worries of tomorrow...

I try to keep informed by reading the news not watch the news. I can’t take the negativity and try to stay positive. I hate to say but I don’t feel things will get better. Being anxious and worried has never helped me in the past. One day at a time and having faith is the way to go.

The world and local news doesn’t really matter too much for me anymore. I watch what is going on for my children and grandkids. What kind of world are we leaving them. So I vote with them in mind. However unfortunately I worry about my family mentally, physically and financially. Not much I can do about any of that though.

I think this is an excellent approach, and I do it as much as I possibly can. Most people say they live one day at a time, but don't explain what that means to them, so I have no idea what they are talking about. Also, any plans, goals, or personal growth, must go beyond one day. So that pretty much denies "one day at a time" for everyone. The only one that seems like he lives one day at a time is my dog. I love him, but he's not my role model.

we can learn a lot from our pets...love in the present moment and unconditional love are among the lessons they teach us:)

Some times there are events in your life that prevent planning ahead. Because of that, you just deal with each day as it comes. If you can’t do anything about the present, stop worrying about the future.
That is so true Rose, I tell myself that all the time.
