Does anyone on the forum play a musical instrument or sing? If so, what do you play, and have you ever performed publically or made a video?? I can't do either, I do sing around the house or along with the radio, but only for fun. :hair:

I played Cello when I was at school SB, but I don't play anymore.

I can't sing for toffee, but it doesn't stop me belting it out indoors, cuz I love to sing! If I could have one magic genie wish it would be to have a lovely singing voice..fat%20lady%20singing.png

I used to play keyboards - acoustic and electronic - back in the '70's. Not formally taught, though - just by ear and reading sheet music note by note until I got it right.

Silly, I know, but I actually learned quite a few songs that way, and many times with the synthesizers I was just messing around. I learned what sounded good and what didn't, anyway ...

I tried guitars but could never get the knack for them.

I learned the 'fiddle' and the harmonica from my Dad, who was a huge Bluegrass fan. On some occasions, my Dad would play fiddle, my Uncle (Dad's Brother) would play guitar and I would play the harmonica and we would play Bluegrass songs for ourselves in my Dad's house or in front of our wives and children and maybe a few friends just for the fun of it. We could never find a drummer. Man, I miss those days.

I play the piano and the recorder. I am a member of the Washington Recorder Society, which meets once a month (except for summer) to get together and play. Most of them are very good players, better than I am, which makes playing with them a pleasure.

I also sing a lot in choruses. I don't have a particularly great voice, but am a good sight reader and have a good ear for music, so I usually manage to land on the right note at the right time. Music is very important in my life. Two of my three children are professional musicians, and several of the grandkids are very talented musically.

I used to play a mean record player

I play the guitar (or gee-tar as we call it here in the south) & attempt to make vocal sounds that approximate singing (I can carry a tune but I don't have a very good singing voice). Have played in front of small groups of people at parties & informal get togethers before, mostly back in college with one of my roommates who I used to jam with all the time.

With the advent of the internet & all it's information resources, the list of songs I can play has grown considerably, though now I only play for my own amusement. Wish it had all been around back then, when I could have really used it.

Might have gone out & gotten a paying gig or two here & there.

Sometimes, back in the 70's. I played a set of Ludwig drums. Never learned to read music, just followed the Lead, Rhythm and Bass guitar players. I could still play the Safari's "Wipe Out", if I tried. Loved having a Keyboard in a band. Keyboard is the one instrument that I LOVED about the old Classic Rock bands. Lead Singer, I am NOT! Back-Up singer, fine.

Wife knows the words to many Motown and Oldie tunes, whereas I know the words to many Classic Rock and Disco tunes. We also know the words to some of the old Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Brooks & Dunn (that era of Country music). We will bellow those words out in our vehicle or in our boat. Nothing like being tied up to a public dock, have people pass by and we are singing to a cd of "We Are Family" or "Born To Be Wild". I know the words to a number of Paul Revere & The Raiders songs as well.

I learned Piano in High School and that's about it. i have a keyboard that is begging me to play but I get so busy these days :(. Other than that, as soon as I buy a place closer to work, I want to take guitar lessons.
