Don’t forget your appointment OK ?

My reminding is from my auto service. I always get an appointment for six months ahead before I leave the service area to make sure I don't forget and get a good day and time. That same day they send me an email telling me when is the appt in six months. One week before the next appt I get another email and one day before another reminder. I don't mind.

Thanks for the humorous takes on this topic ! (y)

In addition to the numerous reminders for the same thing, it's true that some of our appointments, we would rather NOT be reminded to think about them, beforehand, until we really must think about it, if they are unpleasant and we are trying not to think of them, too much. :ROFLMAO:

And in addition, there is the pharmacy (or chemist) that leaves a few recorded messages weekly, and regularly, on the answering machine,:rolleyes:o_O

they tell you repeatedly, when the same script is ready for pick-up, or when you didn't reorder one (because you no longer take it or found you were allergic to it ) and therefore it is not ready for pick-up but possibly should be, :sneaky:

and when no script to remind you of, they leave recorded messages to ask if you want to sign up for automatic refills.
They are my most frequent caller by far!

I hardly need an answering machine if not for the medical offices and the pharmacies!

After making an opticians appointment during the week, I wrote the details on my calendar, a couple of days later I received an e mail to remind me I had an appointment stating the date and time, now they’ve just phoned me, again to remind me of my appointment !!

Am I missing something here ? Is there an amnesia epidemic or something ? or is this normal practice these days ?
Pretty standard in my experience for all medical appointments.

I always mark down any appointments on my wall calendar and am always there and on time, usually early. I don't have that many appointments though.

My dentist will always call my house as a reminder, honestly, I find it annoying, but I guess there are lots of people out there who are unreliable or late, and the professionals don't want to take up a slot in their schedule for a no show who claimed they 'forgot'.

Kaiser will call with a computerized voice before a scheduled appointment as a reminder, I can tolerate that better, I don't have to talk to anyone for no good reason.

A dentist kept calling me, (the machine called) over and over telling me about an appointment. Was ignored when I called to tell them about it. So I set up a forwarding system to a random listings....lol
The only called once after that....lol

I like to get the reminders. Once in a while (very rarely), I actually do forget, in spite of having it on my calendar. I find it a useful service.

They lose money I suppose if an appointment
is missed.

My Dentist charges around £25 for a missed
appointment.

Mike.

I don't mind one reminder call or email, but it's also a two-way street. I've been known to phone the physician's office just prior to an appointment to ask if the doctor is on schedule. If he's running behind, I'll either adjust my arrival time accordingly or reschedule.

Physicians do occasionally run into a situation that requires more of their time than anticipated and it can throw their entire day off. I'm ok with that . . . if I were "that patient", I'd want them to take the time necessary to address my problem properly. But if a doctor seems to make it his regular practice have patients waiting for more than about 15 minutes, I change doctors. It's happened a couple of times over the years.

Guess what I’ve just received ? another reminder of my appointment tomorrow ! at this rate I’ll be getting an alarm call to make sure I don’t oversleep and an escort turning up to make sure I haven’t forgotten the way to the opticians ...

Maybe he really, really likes you, Wren,, and is pining away watching the seconds drag by in anticipation of the magical moment when you walk through the door! If God forbid, you forgot the appointment, he would be devastated.

🤔. Not much chance of me forgetting the appointment Sunny.......

well at least you guys get reminders.......our nurse just turned up out of the blue, to take hubbys bloods.....! he was asleep (afternoon) and i was in the garden, so it was a good job i heard them......as hubby said , we could of been rolling about on the floor ....🥴🤫😂

A friend of mine who worked in a dentist's office (one dentist) had one of her duties being when there were appointment openings (cancellations or just a vacancy) to call patients who were due for a checkup to see if they would like one of the openings. She hated that but she had to do it.

I do wonder if there truly are fewer no-show's since they began this system, however many years ago it was.
Does anyone know?

When I called to tell them I got the call and was coming, I got another "reminder" anyway.

None of us want to pay for a missed appointment, however they sure do lose money if you figure the difference between what they charge for one simple filling, and that #25 fee charge! 🥴

Nurse would have taken his blood anyway.

I put my appointment cards in front of my coffee pot, in order of earlier ones to later ones. I would just call them and make sure of the time. Sometimes it is just a thing they do, unless it was a different date and time.

I love the push 1, push 2, thing. Means I don't have to talk to anyone...so I thought. They call me the next day to ask if I'm sure.
I get texted a date and time and am asked to text back the word Confirm if I accept the date or call the phone number if I need to reschedule. I usually just text confirm.

Hey, everyone...don't forget to get your flu shots...lol!

My tyrant iPhone calendar issued a similar directive to me this morning.
I tend to get all of my recommended shots. We had a couple of people in the neighborhood come down with the flu a couple of years ago and they took it pretty tough for awhile. The one that made a believer out of me was all the misery that a woman across the street went through when she had shingles.
I am a believer and am heading out to get my flu shot this afternoon. My wife never gets one and that always worries me.
