Yes, Laurie. We know about those doodlebugs in OZ too.
Now there is another connotation that is a lot more adorable.

Gosh. Didn't know many Aussies thought kangaroos were adorable. Thought they were only just above poms in the popularity polls!

We love all of our wildlife, Laurie. That list includes venomous spiders and snakes, goannas and crocodiles, cranky marsupials from Tasmania, inquisitive emus, piddly koalas and, last but not least, adorable orphaned joey kangaroos, wallabies and possums.

How could you not love them all?

PS my forebears were mostly Poms and it's OK to rib the relatives.

This is an American doodlebug. A lot of farmers have them on the premises and use them for all kinds of jobs. Just an old, running car striped down to bare bones. I've driven a couple and was a lot of fun, but one needs to hang on tight.
