Doris Day has died

Just got a note that Doris Day died this morning at age 97. She had had pneumonia and had not fully recovered from it. Article said she died at home with friends by her bedside. I loved her movies and singing!!

Loved "That Touch of Mink" with Cary Grant. I was 12 when it was playing at the matinee in my hometown.

Doris Mary Ann Kappelhoff gone. Well I never was a fan of her movies, nice singing voice though. I remember my mother being a big fan period.

I thought she was a very enjoyable actress but what I admired most was her strong advocacy for animal welfare in every form, both taking care of her own many pets and supporting the cause in every way.

Our national broadcaster (radio) has been playing snippets of her well known songs. I listened to them several times and was filled with memories of a truly great entertainer. Her voice is unmistakable and a lasting legacy.

My favorite movie of all time was Sentimental Journey and then when I heard Doris Day sing the song Sentimental Journey I loved it even more. She was wonderful and may she R.I.P.

Doris Day’s only child was Terry Melcher, who produced such famous artists as The Byrd’s and The Beach Boys. At one time, Melcher had a connection to Charles Manson through one of The Beach Boys (Dennis Wilson). Charlie thought that his connection with Wilson, Melcher May sign him to a contract, which Terry almost did, but backed off.

Terry lived in in the house where Sharon Tate and others were murdered by the Manson Family when they went looking for Melcher and found Sharon living there. Her husband, Roman Polanski had bought the house just a short time earlier.
