Dutch residents vow to hurl EGGS at Jeff Bezos's newly-built £400m Y721 superyacht

Reminds me of a time when a Navy buddy of mine were hitch hiking from Memphis down to a small town in Arkansas.

Just before daylight we were on a bridge over the Mississippi when we both had to urinate. He said damn the river is cold! To which I said & deep to.
Did you ever notice that the guy telling this story is always the one that checks the depth of the river.

I just read an article yesterday about how incensed Amazon Prime members will not be renewing their subscriptions. They take exception to the fact that Bezos can afford to built a mega yacht with billions left over but Amazon has the nerve to up the Prime membership by $20 a year. I can understand it but I won't be cancelling because my membership is free courtesy of MetroPCS. And if it wasn't, I wouldn't have paid for Prime anyway.

I agree with you guys. If he's clever enough to make all the money, good for him. I hope all those people he employs are paid well with benefits. That seems to be lacking with big corp these days, sadly.

I think anyone who is able to make it to the top tier should be congratulated.

Remember, people, these guys pay mucho dinero in taxes as well regardless of what loopholes they may enjoy.

Sounds like a dangerous sport. Aren't there critters with teeth in that river?

OK, that's his way ....... Bezos does it differently. But does he hurt anyone ?

Me, personally, I don't think so. But conspicuous consumption is like kicking a hornet's nest. It would be better for capitalism if people would learn to tone it down a bit.

I've been seeing complaints in the news that Amazon delivery drivers say they barely get time to go to the bathroom because they are held to such tight schedules. I also read there were some safety concerns for warehouse workers. I don't think Amazon pays as well as Costco. My grandson has worked for Amazon for a few years (first P.T., now F.T.) I'll have to ask him.

I've heard the same thing about Amazon. I believe, in response to the bad publicity this has gotten, that Amazon has come up with this:

Amazon's more than 750,000 operations employees in the U.S. are eligible for fully funded college tuition, including cost of classes, books, and fees. Amazon plans to expand the education and skills training benefits it offers to its U.S. employees with a total investment of $1.2 billion by 2025.

I have a question ....... Let's say I am working for a boss that pays me what the market pays for my position, [what the job is worth] and i get a few benefits as well.

If he buys himself a new Cadillac ....... is he required to buy something for me ? do something for me ?

It is rediculous to say that Bezos is spending too much on himself. If his places of employment are safe, good working conditions , and each job is paying & providing what the standard is. Then what he does with his personal profit is his business & only his business.

Maybe if i am jealous enough ..... maybe that will spark me enough to get up off my dead ass and figure out a way to be more sucessfull myself ? ..... follow in his footsteps so-to-speak ..... jmo.

Wretched excess is usually not an attractive sight. Part of the genius of Warren Buffett was to position himself as a regular guy who enjoys Cherry Coke and cheeseburgers. I'm sure Buffett lives lavishly, but he doesn't flaunt his wealth.
The trouble with Bozo is that this guy is a nonstop show off. Seems that he needs attention and admiration from the public. If you are an American from the deep south (I'm not) then you will know about Old money and New Money. Bozo definitely is new money and seems he has to prove something over and over and seems to be starved for attention. Old money would never do this. I think that old money does not need to prove anything. New money is trying to prove something over and over. I guess you can tell that I have more respect for Warren Buffett but that's just me. Always blowing against the wind!

Or he enjoys the money he makes & spends it. What would your opinion be if instead of spending on luxury items that translate into jobs, he hoarded all he made? What business did you start & employ thousands in?

As my mother used to say about an employer of hers..."They can afford it". If they follow through on this promise, it will be a good thing. But they also need to correct the issues their drivers complain about. One woman said she didn't even have time to change her sanitary pad. My thought was, you mean they don't get a decent lunch break?

Throwing eggs at the ship seems pointless to me.
There must be other ways to 'bash' him
It bothers me to see food of any kind wasted like that when there are so many people in the world who are hungry:(
