Employee appearance .

i have no idea where everyone is from but, correct me if i'm wrong but, most places have dress codes do they not? also as a general rule, all the weird stuff is left at home or not worn while they are working.

Butt cracks on the job are very inappropriate. There's no excuse for that.
Butt cracks anywhere in public isn’t appropriate. I don’t understand that style where guys wear their pants below their butt. I shouldn’t have to feel embarrassed looking at someone.

I like to think so, but seeing what I'm seeing as of late, tells me different.

We've lost so much ground as a society.

On the other hand, just to be the devil's advocate, don't these conventions and standards keep evolving all the time? Go back a couple of hundred years. Women's legs were strictly required to be covered by long skirts. Some fanatics actually hung covers on their piano legs, as the bare legs of the piano might inspire the "wrong" kind of thoughts!

Victorians were notorious for this kind of thinking. Women bathing at the beach had to wear bathing dresses; there were no such things as swim suits for women. And of course, religions impose their own rules. This applies to what everybody wears, not just delivery people.

Throughout history, fashions have changed drastically, and what is "correct" in one period is considered ridiculous and dated in another. Even in more recent times, that has been true. When I first entered the workplace in the 1950's, women did not wear pants to work, it had to be dresses or skirts. And business shoes. I was one of the "pioneers" in the 70's who started wearing running shoes to work instead of uncomfortable heels.

There was a period when bare arms were considered improper, and the amount of decolletage that may be shown keeps changing. Some of the pictures of fashionable women in Napoleon's day show very low-cut dresses.

Wouldn't that be an interesting picture book for someone to publish? "Time to Change," or some title like that.

Frankly I think too many women dress a little too slutty for my tastes. But then I'm a prude. I don't think my cleavage should be hanging out at work any more than my a** should be. LOL!
And I think being able to see someone's camel toe at work because they wear the wrong shirt with their leggings is equally nasty.

Skirts that are too short...if I gotta worry about seeing your taco if you drop something on the floor then it's too short. IMO

Thanks for saying that so I didn't have to- specifically referring to the 'cleavage' subject. A few years ago I went into an office, and the person I needed to talk to was wearing an otherwise-classy outfit but the top was cut almost down to her navel. I don't think it's prudish at all to say it's inappropriate.

Fortunately I've missed the 'camel-toe' style so far- didn't even know what it meant when someone on the forum mentioned it. Ick.

I find the banking industry is one of the worst... tellers displaying their goods.

I once told a woman, "That's a lovely outfit."
She replied, "Oh....it isn't much."
I said, "I know. That's what I like about it."

Maybe, and an excellent point.

Do wonder whatever happened to the days when most employers provided their employees with outfits, pants, etc, or an allowance that ensured a new hire could afford to outfit themselves accordingly with the appropriate attire for the job/workplace.

I'm thinking back to the Dairy Queen days back in the 70's, when the girls serving cones and ice cream treats all wore DQ smocks, and that's only one example.

I just see an overall disconnect these days, where telling employees apart from shoppers is often next to impossible, and in my view that's not the way a business, company, or industry should be run.
Yes, some outfits also remind me of the Dairy Queen days.......

I wouldn't care if she was pink or purple. This manner of dress is unacceptable to me no matter where. I've talked about this with my sister and friends. And BTW...not only Black women are wearing these outfits. I've noticed at the gym...the guys have on nice, loose fitting sweats or gym pants and the women feel like every curve they ever had in life should be revealed. It just looks "Mac-Nasty"!
