When that show started only 1 or 2 studies had been done. Marine scientists knew very little about sharks. Most of what you saw during shark week was conjecture. Observational studies only started about 15 years ago and scientists are seeing some pretty bizarre, surprising behaviors. Like, they think sharks enjoy using their dorsal fin to play with seaweed, or it might be the seaweed acts as an anti-parasitic.
I picture a boy shark asking his girl, "What are you in the mood for tonight, New England chowder or Southwestern cuisine?"I was fine until 'Jaws' came out. Then I didn't venture far.
