Etiquette/manners. Do's and don'ts. What you prefer.

I’m polite but, I’ll wear a hat almost anywhere. If others react in some way it doesn’t affect me one iota. With contractors, vendors and the general public I’ve been accused of being too polite. My style works great for me, I know exactly when to change my tone as to not get walked on. My gimmick is not to react if they’re angry, try to change the mood before the conversation ends. It works 90 percent of the time.

Military folks know that hats will be removed in the mess. In the Canadian Army, you do not salute if you are not wearing your head dress. At the Royal Military College ( the Canadian Forces University ) cadets attend a course on manners and traditions of the service, where they learn how to behave at a mess dinner. Protocols and traditions are taught.

About hats in a public eating establishment. House rules are posted at the door, and management will enforce them, such as "no motorcycle helmets, no hats, no torn clothing, no smoking :. Yes in Canada you cannot smoke inside any public place including bars, clubs and eateries, right across the country. The basic rule is "If somebody is being paid to work here, you cannot smoke here.. Health and safety regulations. JimB.

Wow! men who treat women badly should have a cattle prod shoved up their ass, there is no excuse for behaving badly.
SO...What punishment would you suggest for some one who did something really awful, like killing somebody? Your reply was really silly. JimB.

Is this bad manners? :)

Some places would think so.

how do you mean, a problem ?.. You say you have friends who are Brits, so you will know that we value politeness, so no explanation needed.. surely ?
OOOOh No! I worked with a British guy when I was a teenager. He was horrible. We worked in a retail store and both of my arms were loaded with heavy boxes and I said to him, "Richard can you help me please?" He turned to me and said, "Are you a cripple?" I swear he was that rude. If I had had a free hand I would have hit him. Anyway all the other Brit guys I worked with were very nice and after Richard went into the royal navy he came back to visit us and he was as polite as they make 'em. Like they gave him a personality transplant or something. You can't judge people of an entire nation from a single experience, but he was outrageously rude at first. Unforgettably so.

Intimidating ?.. don't make me laugh... you asked a question, I answered the question.. I wasn't the one chewing on the bone.. you were.. so howzabout you start learning to be polite, you're very new to this forum, it's probably best you don't alienate people by your attitude so soon
She hasn’t “alienated” me and she has been nothing but polite.
As a matter of fact, she has been quite gracious.

I've wondered about men and their "ball caps". They don't play baseball. They wear them inside at anyplace they may be. They don't need a hat on indoors. Yet they're almost desperately attached to them, refusing even to remove them while eating indoors.

Then I realized, they're all bald or balding, and these caps make them feel safe from any criticism about balding.

Yet God only made so many perfect heads. On the rest, he put hair.
