Ever Been Pulled Over By Police While Driving?

My last roadside encounter with a state trooper was when I was pulled over on the shoulder with a flat in my small travel trailer. The ground was not firm. He went into his trunk and pulled out a garage jack and made short work of getting me back up on wheels. I thanked him profusely.
I was 81 at that time a totally gray.

I was pulled over once by police many years ago for speeding, and was given a warning. Many cops are opportunistic, and I generally find that I must drive at least 5 mph above posted limits to keep up with the "slow" traffic. In today's environment, they tend to target the "extreme speeders." People traveling 20 mph above posted limits are not uncommon, and enforcement is spotty to nonexistent...

A few times, usually for good reason. Once however was strange, no apparent reason, and only after 15 min of the cop checking everything out, looking in all my windows and under the car he let me go. I asked why the stop and he said they were checking to be sure lights were working, however he had not asked me to turn the on or signal or anything.

The strangest experience was the other way round. My nephew and I saw a police car pulled off the road and the cop slumped over his wheel. Stopped to see what was going on and it was clear there was something wrong with him. He was barely conscious and incoherent, not making any sense. It was very hot so we gave him some water and loosened his belt. That was before I had a cell phone so we called it in using his radio. When backup arrived the treated us like suspects at first, guns drawn and all. His gun belt being loose was a cause for concern... However the gun was still there, we had not touched it. Once they figured out we were trying to help and not part of the problem all was ok. Never did hear what was wrong with him or how things turned out.

I am white and pretty middle class looking, not sure all would have gone so well had I not been...

He was just fishing and his refusal to indicate if they were not working before the stop, makes it a bogus unconstitutional stop, that kind if cop we don't need.

been pulled over several times over the years... But my worst dealing with cops...

1 in the morning walking home from the girlfriends house in a large town in NY...
Cops come pulling up, asking what I'm doing.
Good evening I'm walking home...
Got any ID?...
Yes..... as I reach for my wallet.
Next thing I know I'm looking down the barrel of 2 guns and getting screamed at to drop to the ground...

I remember being pulled over twice when I was younger. Both times were while riding a motorcycle so the speeds I was doing were really up there - like double or more?
The first one, the cop was convinced he'd pulled me over just days before. I said no, that wasn't me sir. He was gonna throw the book at me but after checking and finding out it wasn't me he'd pulled over previously, he let me go with just a warning! I was shocked (pleasantly). The other time was late at night so road was empty but again he got me at a ridiculous speed and was about to really do one on me when he got a call on his radio about something more serious. He just yelled at me from his cruiser to get outta here and drive safely then he took off in a hurry. Another bad one avoided.
Decades ago, give or take some years,
a cop, two cops in a patrol car actually,
pulled me over
while I was walking to the grocery store/which I accomplished all by myself at least three times a week for eleven years / a block away.
The one I remember smiled and was friendly, not mean, anyway.
The other one was quiet, standing on the other side of the patrol car, watching and/or listening.
They did not draw their weapons, /may have had one hand on their holstered revolvers though, I didn't see nor care about that at the time/
they did not make my put my hands over my head, nor kneel, nor lie down face down.... fwiw....

For about ten years I was a Auxiliary Police constable here in Toronto. That is a unpaid and unarmed position. Most Auxiliaries want to do the fun details, like the Santa Claus parade, and traffic control at the Blue Jays games. I was the opposite, I worked full time for Metro Toronto Ambulance, and on my days off ( we only worked 3 or 4 shifts in seven days ) I would go in and ride along with one of the traffic guys, who rode solo. The traffic cops were also required to answer emergency radio calls, so quite often I was involved in situations where physical fights were common.

One time we stopped a car and the driver was asked for " license , registration and proof of insurance " He kept pulling insurance slips out of the glove box and handing them to my partner. Each one was expired, and Bill kept ripping them up and dropping them on the ground, until the guy finally came up with one that wasn't expired. His driver's record on the computer system was about 4 pages long, he had been charged so many times and convicted for various offences . He was driving while under suspension, and impaired by alcohol, so he went into the back seat of the patrol car in cuffs, the car was impounded, and he was charged for the 4th time with impaired driving. This time he got hit hard....9 months in jail, a $2,000 fine and a 5 year no driving ban. No insurance company would write a insurance policy with that record behind him. He had to hire a man to drive him around as he was the national sales manager for a big manufacturing corporation. JimB.

Did he ever hurt anyone or cause extensive property damage ?
I ask because too often someone hits and kills someone, or causes thousands of dollars in damage, and gets of scot-free because .... they had enough money or something ?

Three times for speeding. Never did receive a ticket, just warnings. All transpired in Uvalde. I've lived in the valley for 24 years and I catch myself speeding and I slow down.

I have a bad habit of wanting to get to my destination... pronto.

😑😐🤐🤔🤫

Once in Kansas, $52.00 ticket in 1977/78 in mid afternoon. Once in Florida about ten years later @ about 3am , he gave me a break.

Being a pilot and used to going between 450-550 mph, yes, I have a need for speed and several speeding tickets to prove it. I am too embarrassed to tell anyone how many tickets I have accumulated, but I will tell you that going to traffic school is a waste of time, at least I thought so. I probably paid enough fines to have a highway named after me.

0h! Yah...My own fault, driving in convertible on slow-driving road of resort town...
forgot to buckle up.....the state motto is "click it, or ticket" 🤭

A few times for speeding, all valid & no grief from the police officer . Just License & registration please.

I think 3 times in the 16 years I've lived in Dallas. 2 were for speeding. The last one was for driving solo in the HOV lane in the middle of the day. I mistakenly thought it was only taboo during rush hour. There were a group of cops waiting in the off ramp ticketing everyone who was driving solo. They were actually holding up traffic by stopping people and bottlenecking the off ramp. But, hey, Dallas needs our $$$!

I actually got very few tickets when I was younger. More now that I'm older because I have less time on earth. :ROFLMAO:
