Ever sit in a room…..

I'm never at home without some type of distraction. It's usually TV. However, when I go out into the courtyard or walk by the lake near our house I just enjoy hearing the sounds of nature. I can't imagine complete silence. That's not to say I don't admire those who can sit in total silence and just reflect. I tried meditation but my brain never shuts down.

Someone has died,
Arrangements must be made.
Many will feel sorrow,
Soon the sadness will fade.

Many people will come
As they did once before.
Enter the eternal tomb
And leave their names at the door.

Many will stand at the casket
Crying with the pain they bare.
Me, I mourn in my own way----
I just sit quietly in a chair.

All of my working life I had to multi task and keep many balls in the air. The need for that frenzied pace is gone and it’s time to slow down to the natural speed of life, easier said than done. 😉🤭😂

At first, silence is creepy but after a few minutes it begins to have a calming effect.

I think that silence helps us to focus on a specific task, be more mindful, live in the moment, etc…

It still reminds me of boring Sunday afternoons when I was a kid and could sit and watch the dust falling as the sun streamed in the dining room window, the only sound was the ticking of a big old clock.

There probably is some benefit to returning to the days of appointment tv and radio when those devices were only turned on at specific times each day.

I sit in my gentlemans flat in the woods - my dog makes no sound ;there are no others close by ; few birds I never hear but there is always the buzzing - bees NO - just in my head or ear canals ; I wonder whether absolute silence would be frightening??

Total silence doesn't work well for me. Tinnitus fills that which is vacant and it's not thrilling or relaxing.
Maybe why in the quiet of the night, I sometimes have a hard time going to sleep with all the chirping and ringing in my ears.
Normally, I stream music all day at low background volume rather than constantly listen to what's inside my head.

If outside on a nice warm day and sitting in my swing, silence works there.
I just imagine all the sounds in my ears are coming from nature HA.

With tinnitus, there is no such thing as silence. I always hear the "crickets".

I also have tinnitus, so there is no total silence even if I wanted it - which I don’t. I always have a tv on.

I enjoy “silence” at the barn, at night, after chores are done. It’s a peaceful non- silent silence of nature’s sounds.
