How would I know they did it if I hadn't received notification from FB. As I said I wasn't allowed (eg my "like" wasn't accepted, didn't post). I don't know how to make it any clearer for you. A pop up showed immediately explaining their asinine non reasoning. The post was something harmless...I think it was a meme with a picture of a fancy, steaming latte in a cup that said Have A Good Morning. One of the administrators of the group always posts something uplifting at the start of the day and I wanted to "like" his post. If it happens again, maybe I'll remember to screen shot the wording. I remember they put a time limit on it. Here's the kicker, when I went to another group, I was able to "like" someone's post.
 

Never joined FB (or twitter), and don't intend to. I imagine they would censor any hate speech or dangerous conspiracy content, or vulgar posts only. But I have no idea how they moderate their platform. If they use computers instead of people, it may cause unforeseen problems.

Don't do any social media at all. Hack, I don't even own a "smartphone." Just a little ole' flip phone for emergencies. lol - it's always amusing when folks come on to a social media site to say they don't use social media :):D

And then make fun of folks who are "desperate to prove to other people that they have some sort of life", then feel the need to tell us how happy they are in their own life. :oops:

I took myself off of Facebook years ago when I began getting a boatload of unwanted ads and comments in a foreign language. I ran the contents through a foreign language translation program, and found that they were in Polish! I’m not of Polish ancestry, and found the material strange; efforts to block it didn’t always work. I also really didn’t enjoy people blathering about trivial occurrences in their lives, or carping about how badly they perceived others to be treating them. I didn’t want the drama or the pettiness. I still have my facebook page only because I can stay in touch with my family and friends that way, birthdays and kids pics. I never go there unless I need to though. I've blocked some people from posting on my page for incorrect information and they argue with me about it.I get sick of it all. I have had political things wiped from my page, but I never see politics wiped from other peoples sites if they are on the left(er-umm). And I have a friend who they were after as well, I think he got banned. Facebook is very one sided politically and woke. Things have very much changed there, it's definitly for the worse.
Does anyone here use any other social media site? I've tried a couple, most all are political though.

Recently too, I have had many people who I knew were already accepted on my friends list that wanted another friend me only to have them try and hack me. They text and text using that name until I block them. Very disturbing! I've learned to use the block very well I can tell you that.
 
I have a love hate relationship with it. I have never been in fakebook jail but have had posts removed. My bf and many other friends and family members have multiple accounts due to the censorship there and having their accounts banned for a number of days. It has become a game to me coming up with ways to post things that other people get banned for. I just have fun with it now.

It's funny you mentioned about people having multiple accounts. I was talking to a friend and he mentioned he has 5 different accounts. He emails his close friends telling them his new name while he is being banned. Maybe I'll try that or I would just rather talk to who I want on the phone. The heck with Facebook.

Me too sometimes. I think Facebook is out to get everybody. They mostly hate Republicans. Have you received a survey asking if you would pay $29.99/month to use Facebook? I did 3 weeks ago.

Seriously? I'm not going to ask what you replied but if ever get such a survey I'll start looking for alternative outlets. Whatever happened to "Parler" for example?

They have to be nuts if they think people will pay that. I will be going in and keeping some pictures I have in my album and then say Good Bye Facebook!

FB is the worst place to socialize. I made my own website where seniors can socialize and getting ready to leave FB soon.
 
I was on Facebook for a couple years some years back. I deleted my account. It was a totally wasted time for me.

The account was set up by my oldest daughter at a Christmas gathering ... she thought I was missing out on too many family doings, and all the pictures they put on their accounts of trips, etc.
But I was getting a lot of strange and foreign contacts, and people who wanted to be friends, who I never heard of ..

So, I'll just settle for old-fashioned email, and photos sent to my iPhone. That works!

This is what I was thinking, too. It seems that “Facebook-cloning” happens more and more nowadays. It is not that anyone has actually gotten into your account, so changing your password won’t stop cloning. What the person does, is make an account identical to yours, using your name and usually some of the profile pictures that you have posted. Then they message all of your friends with a friend request, which looks like it comes from you.
If any of you friends have asked you about getting another friend request from you, then this is probably the reason why, and you can just report the cloned account to Facebook and they will remove it .

People in a RV group I'm in have been censored for using "tranny" which is a common colloquialism for engine transmissions.
