Female student identifies as a cat,and the school is OK with it!

I remain concerned around charismatic mental health professionals who court widespread recognition, while

espousing controversial views on gender, women, men, society, marriage, etc. The likelihood of an abusive power dynamic

is huge. It is scary to hear “masculine is order, feminine is chaos.” Dr Peterson also believes we are locked into our biology on

all fronts, gender roles are absolute. Apparently, masculinity is under threat, due to the feminisation of men.

Oh, and too much compassion is bad for them as children. They need to grow up tough. Yikes. He believes matrimony

should be compulsory, as it has a civilising affect on men, who, without this, are more prone to violence? (How insulting and demeaning toward his own gender). I wonder

what non hetero men and women think about this? Certainly, most straight women don’t consider it their job to assume such a monumental task. Welcome to the Patriarchy, folks.

That is behind all this stuff with abortion, contraception etc. Bring back the roles of women mainly being mothers and caring for men. Women have gotten too strong for some men, AND women, to bear. Women have been taking authority roles and some think because of this must be driven back to their former status.
Absolutely. I can‘t help but contrast this with a recent statement where my fiancé expressed puzzlement around why some men don’t understand that if women thrive, so do they.

@Shalimar

I ask again, as I did in message 51, that you provide references to support what you said about Jordan Peterson.

I have seen many of his videos and read his books. My impression of him is quite the opposite of what you seem to be saying. So, please, provide evidence to support your views.

You have your opinion and sources, and I have mine. Neither of us is obliged to prove/defend/explain anything to the other. I have a PhD in this field, and I suspect that I am much closer to this issue than you. Further discussion between you and I is pointless.

I just watched that Jordan Peterson video. It was fascinating. Not sure how much of it I agree with. Some of it does make sense, until he gets to the part where, when one family with young kids visits another, instead of putting the kids in front of a TV screen, they should be tossed into the basement to work out "creative" ways to play and act out their identities. I hope that was metaphorical and not a literal suggestion!

If that "cat woman" thing is real, I also disagree with him that she is working out her identity in adulthood, as she should have done at the age of 2. No matter how inept the "single mother" was at raising her, most kids don't think they are really non-human animals. Anyone doing that would be sick, and I don't know how much of their mental illness can be blamed on the mother, or society's "soft" treatment of young children. If it was just that, there would be a lot of young people with cat faces running around.

Not sure where the gender identity thing fits in here, either.

In light of this thread, I watched the film "Wolf" about Animal Dysthymia or Animal Identity, on Epix last night. It was psychologically disturbing and difficult to watch, to say the least. I'm unsure which group was more disturbed, the people at the clinic or the people treating, or quite often mistreating, the patients. That crazy doctor was terrifying, and "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest" was hard to miss too. The parents' trusting the staff with their kids was equally terrifying.

"Wolf" - IMDb > https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10698174/

"Storyline - Jacob, a man who believes he is a wolf trapped in a human body, is sent to a clinic by his family where he is forced to undergo increasingly extreme forms of "curative" therapies at the hands of The Zookeeper. Jacob's only solace is the enigmatic wildcat with whom he roams the hospital in the dead of night. The two form an improbable friendship that develops into infatuation."

None of this surprises me one bit. When the world is turned upside down, and men are acting like women and women are acting like men, and gender roles are reversed and people have reconstructive surgery to become transgender, then I say the world has gone nuts.

@raybar, you should start a new thread where we can discuss a Jordan Peterson video of your choosing. I've watched a few and was unimpressed, so perhaps you could change my mind.

Might as well stray waaaaaay off topic

This thread reminds me of what people think they are vs what they actually are.....and require you to play along

I just can't quite wrap my mind around the attempt at 'reason'
I do believe it's designed to foster confusion in basic communication

Scenario;

'Hey, when you go to the store, would you get me a loaf of bread?'

'Sure'

'Here's your loaf of bread'

'Uh, that's a package of baloney'

'Well, it's a loaf of bread to me'

What I don't understand with situations like this, is that somehow we have to accept them, but they don't have to accept us disliking it - they get to throw up their hands and yell about how offended they are. It's fine if you want to be who you think you are, and go about your business, but don't get uppity with me because I raise my eyebrows and don't want to talk to you 🤷‍♀️

@hollydolly, if that before and after picture really is the same woman, I wonder if she regrets having so much surgery done? She looks perfectly fine in the before pic to me, no reason for surgery at all. But then I have no idea what the poor lady saw when she looked in the mirror - body dismorphia is a cruel mental health condition.

Forgot to say I'm stunned at the idea of the girl identifying as a cat. And gobsmacked that the school went along with it...Sheesh.

These folks are sick. There is no 2 ways about it. Sick, sick and getting sicker. Don't know who to blame? Hollywood, graphic novels, the media, poor education, the internet or smartphone? Your guess is as good as mine.

Maybe I could become one of Tarzan's apes and swing from tree to tree but I think I'm too old for swinging from trees! LOL

Female student identifies as a cat??

I guess later on her University thesis will be titled "Can I Haz Fish Sticks?"

The child is ill. Goes to a special school. Hopefully she will receive the help she needs. The esteemed psychologist, Carl Jung, believed it was best to meet clients where they were, rather than attack their reality, no matter how specious. A client once told him she lived on the moon, he simply asked her for directions.
