My first solo run-through for publishing an ebook using Amazon's Kindle Direct Publishing system.
It's certainly eye-opening, going through something like this ... you see how far technology has come in the field of publishing. Used to be, you had to beg and bow and scrape at the front door of some mega-jumbo publishing company. Then, when they picked you as the 1 out of 10,000 that they deigned to publish, you had to submit reams of paper, then have those reams shuffled right back to you for corrections, multiple times, then you had to bring in the photographer (or go to them), then the merciless editing process, then, then, then ...
Now it's basically clickety-click, online previews in all of the available Kindle machines to see how it looks, Amazon even does their own spell check. As long as you're even close with the formatting they take care of any little errors as well.
Twelve hours from now I should have my book listed along with millions of others, and it will join my lonely traditionally-published book.
Huzzah!
