For fun, describe your voice, not your singing voice, but your talking voice.

Yes, Like Chic, breathy and low, soft I think! I never yell.
Singing voice? I think I sound like Gene Pitney; kinda Julie London. ( Heck, I don't know!)

Voices are so important! When I hear a man's voice that's deep and low, it makes my knees buckle!

Our voices sound different to us than to others. Tho judging from some recordings i've heard of my voice it can vary alot. When my allergies are acting up it can be so gravelly it sounds like a drink a quart of whiskey and smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day and automated phone answering systems have trouble understanding me. When no extraneous Influences my voice is slightly to the low side for a woman, and many have told me it is calming.

While i don't have great singing voice my babies (fur and human) have always liked when i sing to them. My male tabby finds 'Amazing Grace' soothing.

I have been told I sound like Sissy Spacek did in, "Coal Miner's Daughter." Since everyone present agreed and Sissy is from Texas, a state whose people sound almost exactly like West Virginians. I suppose it must be true. I had hoped all these years in Ohio would have smoothed out the Hillbilly twang a little more than that.

Was a Certified Navy Classroom Instructor and no one complained about my voice.
Although I do probably speak rather slowly ... it's a Southern thing ... and with a bit of a Southern accent.
The accent is much stronger when I'm speaking with someone from the South and they have a strong accent.

Can't sing. Was in youth choir at church and even individual lessons didn't help.
My mom and dad often sang duets and solos at church services though.

I don't sing professionally, but I do sing, mostly for my own entertainment and the entertainment of people I work with. Usually with my own humorous lyrics to well known songs. Someone once said to me I sound like a mid-tone Tenor. I'm not entirely sure what that is.

As for a talking voice, people say it’s lower than most people. I have an accent that most in my country don't seem to be able to pinpoint its location. Some say I have aspects of a Manchurian (Manchester) accent with a very slight touch of Liverpudlian (Liverpool). I'm from neither of those places. It seems that my voice might have a blend of characteristics from different regions. Some people have said to me I sing when I talk, and others have said they don't recognise that.

Do you have difficulty standing up when Barry White is on the radio?

On... What did I just say?... *quickly shakes head* Anyway!... On occasion, I sound like Barry White, but only when I have a cold and sore throat.

Funny how that works. My wife tells me I have little or no southern accent until I go back south, then it reappears...

A past GF's father was from the Southern States, but he moved to Michigan and started a car sales business in Detroit. It was said that over time he lost most of his Southern accent, but when he sold cars to customers he turned it on again. He said he realised it helped him sell cars.

I not only lost most (y'all being used often and when tired more of the drawl returns) of my southern accent i picked up bits and pieces of inflections and common expressions from various places i lived. So in person or on phone conversations people have trouble telling where I'm from.
