For the unvaccinated for covid 19. A short question.

For anyone who decided the covid 19 vaccine was not for them for whatever reason, did your relatives and/or friends ever apologize to you for any social mistreatment because of your unvaxxed state?

None of mine ever did but no one shunned me or excluded me or even argued with me about being unvaxxed so I think I must fortunate in this. :)

Never came up for discussion in our family. We're all close and I don't know who's vaxxed or who's not? If they arrived at the house, wheezing and coughing, I might suggest visiting at another time, as most common sense folks would. But that's not a vax situation, that's just common sense for folks with any "bug".

I'm pretty old but I can't say that I recall any social upheaval when the polio vax arrived. Most folks thought it was a Godsend and stepped forward for the shot.
Guess times (or people) have changed?

Everything is political nowadays... even science!

My daughter never got the vaccine, she was and is still completely convinced it was all a sham.. and she was having none of it. She never got Covid.. and she never was castigated by anyone for not having the vaccine...

I ignored the vaccine myself for the first year.. then I got Covid, and for a few days I thought I was dying tbh.. so that changed my mind I didn't want to risk getting that again..so I had the vaccine, then I had the follow up one.. and that was me I had no more...and I don't intend having any more

No. Some of my family members got the vaccine; some didn't. We carried on as usual.

My heart went out to my bonus mom when she got her third vaccine. She was debating on whether or not to get it. She stays home and doesn't drive much anymore, so she felt that she shouldn't get it. I did not persuade her one way or the other because that was her decision. I agreed with her that she doesn't go anywhere.

She ended up getting it, and about a week later, she sounded like she was coming down with a cold. Another week goes by, and she ends up in the hospital due to balance issues. She stayed in the hospital for a few weeks and was then moved to a rehab facility. She's now home but not in the best health. She was already having health issues...not sure if that added fuel.

It's good that you both survived. That's all that matters in the end. I agree with your daughter about the origins of covid 19. I don't believe our governments were being honest with us. Not entirely.

No one in our families on either side bugged us or bothered us to get the vaccine. Pretty sure they knew we were not going to. But we were ostracized later on. My wifes family refuse to talk to us at all. They have essentially disowned her. Each and every one got it on her side.
My side never said a word. They knew better. But other than our 2 kids and their spouses, and us, they all did did it.

One thing on here I have to say is I find it funny that 'you' (anyone) don't have to tell me your vaccinated, because its protected under law, but during this whole shenanigans that was covid, everyone demanded to know who was not!

Then when people like chic ask the question she did, I see a don't ask don't tell play out. Where was that during covid? You see its the double standard that makes us mad and unable to let go of what was done to the unvaccinated. Its not that you tried to get us to do it, its that we were essentially attacked at every turn.

I was fully vaccinated when I got Covid and I spent 96 days in three different hospitals. My wife Cindy was too, and Covid killed her in 26 days. What people don't realize is that a vaccination is not fool proof. What do I mean by that? Well, if you go into a war zone, you should be prepared for the worst.

From the day California went into lockdown in 2020, to December 28th, 2022, when it was announced that Covid stats were so low that the Health Department lifted the mask mandate. So the next day I took a city bus across town without a mask, and from January 3rd, 2023 to January 19th I was in a Diabetic Coma, which was brought on by Covid making me loopy and disoriented, and I did not take my meds for days.

Five days after I woke up, Cindy passed. Our 25th Anniversary was just a few months away. Her health was pretty bad and it wasn't just Covid and Pneumonia that killed her. But she would not have passed away if I would not have let my guard down.

My point is, yes, we were all vaccinated, we had our Covid shots and Pneumonia shots, and we got both of them anyway. If I had just worn a mask that day...

Now, two years later, even though I can barely breathe while wearing a mask, I wear one whenever I go anywhere. Difficulty breathing is a far cry better than not breathing at all.

so sorry that you lost your beloved wife in the nightmare pandemic... how horribly tragic... especailly given that she did what she was told to do to prevent getting critically ill...by having the vaccine.. so sad, may she R.I.P...but you must not feel guilt, because there's every chance you didn't give it to her. that she got it somewhere else.. covid takes an average of 12 to 14 days to show up after exposure...

That's what the Doctors said, but unfortunately that wasn't the case. She had a number of serious illnesses that kept her in bed for the last three years of her life. I may have been exposed by someone at our local grocery store a few days before my trip across town or something. Who knows? But she was in Bed, and I was the one who went out in public during the entire Pandemic and brought Covid home. The only other way she could have got it was if it blew in the bedroom window that was always open, and I never heard of that happening. (Of course, that means nothing...) But we had almost 25 years together, and that was a gift from God.

I hear ya there. In 2022 I spent a ton of money on gear for a long bike trip. I bought a rack to put on a used BOB trailer ($250 for both), a new set of Ortlieb Front Roller panniers ($150), new dry sack for the trailer ($40), new tires for my bike and the trailer ($70), a Kelty double sleeping bag (I like elbow room, $120), and a new set of lights ($340), 800 lumens on two lights on the bike handle bars, and one on my helmet that is 1,200 lumens. And I did a tune up on my bike, ($80). All of that came to $1050.

And then came covid... And my long awaited bike trip went right out the window.

Here's my bike, "Ol' Bessie" named after my great-grandmother, and BOB before I bought the rack and pans.

That's Samoa Beach, by the way...
