For Those of You Who Have Ever Had a Hangover

I always found 10 minutes or so in a steam room makes it all go bye bye. Do you have access to a health club? A sauna is not as good as steam!
No. No health club. Just looking for home remedies really. Thanks.

Ruthanne,
It might not be a hangover.
It could be a new variant of the Corona virus.

Try drinking lots of fluids, eating lots of carbs, and getting plenty of rest.

My gramps always drank plenty of water - alcohol dehydrates your brain, that's why you get a headache and/or fuzzy head (what gramps called a swoled head).

But first, he'd crack an egg into a small glass and drink it down in one gulp. No salt or tabasco sauce, nothing, just a raw egg. And you have to drink it fast, one or two gulps, or it tends to not go down at all.

I don't know if this is a one-time thing for you, but if it happens again, my advise is before going to bed take 2 aspirin and 2 antacids. When I was clubbing back in the day, that almost always worked for me. I might still feel a little run down but not sick.
I hope it's just a hangover and not anything else.

That's my son's remedy.\

I had a massive hangover just one time, and learned my lesson....
That's what I always thought after each of my all too many hangovers...

Haven't had a "massive" one in a while, getting too old I guess.

My best memory of a hangover was in college, I never made it to the bed slept on the couch near the door. Bright and early the next morning Jehovah's Witnesses or some kind of missionaries woke me up. When I opened the door they said "we are here to give you the good news of Jesus and the Bible". I just answered "no you're not" and slammed the door. That did not help my hangover...

Coca-Cola was originally sold as a hangover cure, you might try that... but in my experience its not better than water.
Prolly back when it had a bit of cocaine.

Back when I was hitting it pretty hard, I found sipping a beer helped.

Houston
Celler Club off the square
Me and my buddy got thrown out
He went to jail
I found my way home.... somehow

Took a good 15 minutes to get the key in the door

Tried a bath
Hot hot water
Passed out in it
Woke up
Frozen
My skin was like a dried prune
Stumbled to the couch
Passed out again
Woke......broken
Sipped a beer
It helped

The 'never again' thought happened

Now, I'm a sipper
and not all that often

As with many things an ounce of prevention worth a pound of cure. Knowing one's limits is a survival skill that improves quality of life.

That said, while i learned where the line was when young, i had to adjust after menopause because my body chemistry changed significantly and impacted what i could consume without consequences.
