Former Press Secretary Bill Moyer has passed away

As a non, he was my first favorite Christian until Mr. Rogers came along. Moyers caught my eye when he did the Hero With A Thousand Faces with Joseph Campbell. I only knew Mr Rogers did a television show for small kids until he came to the middle school I taught at and I saw what an impression he had made on nearly all of our students. Then I watched the Tom Hanks movie about him and the guy who wrote a magazine article about the man. Then I understood it.

I admired him too and thought him to be a source of wisdom. I met him once, at a train station in Garden City New York.
I asked him for directions on connecting to another train and he was amiable and helpful; he even asked about me: "...you're a college student? What might you be studying?" He offered a bit of counsel, nothing heavy or condescending only friendly, and this from a man who was a Somebody in the world to a nobody 19 years of age. He was a gentleman in the best sense of the word.

After serving as a hatchet man for LBJ, he turned left and kept going.
