Friendly Wildlife in Queensland

Yes it is. Reptiles are protected in Australia.
You must call someone who can remove the animal safely and relocate it.

Anyway, carpet snakes are not dangerous, just startling.
They are docile and only bite if harassed. They are non venomous.

All reptiles - snakes, including venomous ones, turtles, lizards and crocodiles.
You need a special licence to keep them and you aren't allowed to hunt/kill them.
There are some exceptions such as wildlife officers who shoot rogue crocs and indigenous people who may harvest traditional foods such as goanna, snakes and turtles.

Ina carpet snakes are not the only ones we have in Australia. I think , of the 10 most venomous snakes in the world we have nine of them.

Ina we may have 9 out of the 10 but I do not know how many of each species we have. I would presume (but do not claim to know) that numbers are reduced of the individual species.

i think that is so cool! here in the US southwest there are a lot of rattlesnakes, & do bite careless people on occasion.

Did something kill off your reptile population, and your trying to safe and bring them back? Like we did with wolves and the buffalo.

A lot of our wildlife was nearly hunted to extinction, koalas and crocs, for example. Given that our fauna is unique in all the world we do have very strict protection laws for just about everything except kangaroos and dingos. Loss of habitat is the main problem now. Our flora and soils are pretty unique too.

So you don't give a fig about bouncing rats and steroidal dogs, huh? That's not very environmentally conscious of you ...

Personally, if I had encountered that snake in my bathroom or bedroom, I would have quietly and slowly left the house, closed the front door and then proceeded to burn the house down as quickly as I could.

Nor do you know what is likely to enter your house via the indoor plumbing.

Don't worry, this little girl is quite friendly.
Unless she's guarding her young.

No thanks, I'll be bringing my own lunch, but you can put it in a sandwich for yourself if you like...
