I do enjoy kits for certain crafts. It's fun to have all the stuff you need right there ready.

That's true!
They also had an array of various booklets with instructions for fun things to maybe try.
Or just to have fun looking at those books.

I once worked with a real bird nerd. He wrote papers such as The Nocturnal Flight of the... something bird. He did the Christmas bird count and other interesting bird stuff.

Oh that's right. I forgot, but you reminded me, and I did go to Michaels, once, many years ago.

It was better than nothing, at the time.
I think I got a kit for a small project.
I dont usually buy kits, but it was good to have something.

Long time ago I worked for a place that designed kits sold at Michaels. I did mostly iron-ons. Not great art but a fun job.

(I think) We still have a Fabricland store in Canada. I don’t sew and didn’t like having to buy a membership to get sale prices. Because I don’t go there, I have no clue how busy they are. They sure used to.

My daughter is a quilter and loves the little private stores.

Michaels and Joann Fabrics closed by us too. Hobby Lobby is about 20 miles from us. It is fun to go there once in a while especially around the change of seasons.
I stopped feeding the birds a long time ago because it would attract bobcats, rats, and snakes. I also read to be careful about the type of food you feed the birds. Around here, some people were feeding the sandhill cranes the wrong food and it made them sick!
I do enjoy watching the hummingbirds that visit us frequently. They like my bottlebrush trees. We also have quite a few mockingbirds and owls. They drive the cats crazy!
I forgot to mention the squirrels. They are so tricky and bright to get to the food. I watched several documentaries about them (mainly British documentaries) showing how clever they are to get the food. It was so interesting.

Good Morning, Kaila & Friends! Friday is here (for those who get excited about that)! Sun is shining here but sounds very windy out there. I expect to have a much better day than yesterday. Ordered my groceries which is coming between 11 and 1. Plus I have a big order coming from Amazon today and another one tomorrow. I have been the shopping queen! Supplies! Things I needed. Morning everyone. Sorry I haven't been around. Been going through some stuff. Hope everyone is well, staying warm and safe from ice outside.

I bought some of those no tie skechers. Gonna try them at work but taking other sneakers in case my feet get to hurting. I didn't know they had them in non slip so I'll hafta wear booties over these so I don't go skating. Next time I'll order direct from the skechers site I think.

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends

I'm running a bit early today so here before Lucius' second walk. It's not too cold, which is nice, but there are gusts of wind which made me glad I wore my heavy coat on the first walk.

Husband is off today, works a late shift tomorrow and then will be leaving for a four-day trip to Florida to visit our eldest son. I'm always of two minds about it when he goes away (actually, the same way that I am when boyfriend goes away). I'm happy for him to be there and enjoying himself, but I hate that he's not here.

@Kaila, hoping you made it to your appointment today, as Kate mentioned and that it wasn't too stressful or exhausting. I have to psych myself up for such appointments.

@Rossana, we used to have a Bottle Brush tree in our front yard in the San Fernando Valley. They're so pretty and the birds and bees love them.

@katlupe, glad you're planning / and having a good day today. It's so fun to be getting packages.

@MarciKS, sorry you're having a hard time right now. Hang in there, girl. Vent when you need to.

Good afternoon, all.

I had an appointment today, which went well ,
and then, got to the pharmacy, then home and eating....

Going to rest or nap now,
And will enjoy reading all of today's posts, after i get up.

This week , I got a new cane that I'd ordered, and today I Took it with me, for an outing, for the very first time.
I like it.

Which is positive, as well as a relief.

I find it very difficult to order items online, sight unseen.

No matter how much i read details, and study and compare specifications, and stare for hours at the pictures provided..


There is still much unknown, and suspense involved,
And at some point, a leap of faith involved.

I finally narrowed down, and took my guess and ordered and then, waited...
And waited......
And waited.

It arrived in a box that had obviously been crunched,

But out it came, in fine condition.
Whew.

It's much lighter weight than my present one, while at the same time;
it's very strong and feels stable and secure. So I'm happy with it.

I still keep my rollator handy, but at the times when I can manage with a cane, I'm glad.

One full year since leaving the rehab/nursing home;
From wheelchair, to walker, to rollator...
to a cane that stood itself and has a seat;
And now today.....

It feels a bit of a new chapter for me.....

A new year.....2026...

A new cane.

Happy Saturday one and all! Very glad to hear that your cane purchase choice was a good one, Kaila! I know the exact feeling you had when you saw the crushed box, I'll bet. I ordered a laptop from Best Buy this past summer and the box came exactly like that... and it's like "are you *kidding* me?! That's a computer, how could they crush it?!" But like your situation, the laptop was fine, luckily.

Good morning;
I'm thinking of each one of you.

I'm doing okay this morning, and so is dh.
I'm thankful that we are both managing to be living at home in our little apartment.

I got overly exhausted, yesterday; yet managed to tend my dear old cats ears.

Today I plan to help dh, and hopefully tend dear cat's paws and claws.
Some other little tasks around here,I would dearly love to accomplish, but might not.

Yesterday, I did fill the bird feeder. We've been having a wonderful variety of the local birds.

I'm glad I don't need to go out, or anyplace today.
I hope there is something good, in each one of your's day, today!

There still aren’t many birds around here. Except for this afternoon. Probably two dozen robins showed up on our tree. They usually go south for the winter and the first one back is the first sign of spring. We haven’t had any winter yet.

My day has been weird. I've been a bit depressed. It's not deep though; I think I'm just bummed that husband is going away for a few days. I'll be fine. I'm happy for him to go and have a good time; I want that. But I also will miss him. It's silly, really. It's just a few days. But we are so bonded. Anyway, I'll be fine. Boyfriend will be extra attentive, as he is when husband is away. LOL Sheesh. I'm finished whining now.

@Kaila, glad to hear that you and husband are doing well and you're seeing lots of birdies at your feeder. And you got some kitty maintenance in.

@Jules, do you think the Robins showing up (or not having left?) is because it's been a relatively mild winter so far?

It’s darn weird. We had the hottest summer on record this year. Dry too. As much as I whine about it, we really need snow. This is semi-desert country. Our lakes are low already.

Huh. I really want a mild winter, but I can see how that might be a problem in some regions. :/
