Gentle posts for gentle folks

Oh Kaila, same thing happened when I was a patient at Yale New Haven!

It was daylight and I could see it starting it's decent to the tower below mine. A nurse had also come in and I told her I felt so sorry for the patient inside the chopper.

She said it could very well be a heart or a lung coming in for a person who was waiting in another room and who needs it so badly.
Wonderful story, too. Thanks for sharing that.
3 of them have landed, during the almost 1 week, that I've been here.

All of them were after dark, 9-10 p.m.ish

I could see their lights and hear the sound, as they approach, once I realized to look for it.

They land on aplatform on top of same tower building that I am in, and I'm on the highest, 7th floor.

The building turns corner, with 2 wings, so I can actually see some of the goings on when they land. I don't watch all of it, but it's a unique experience for me to be so close to it.

This is a trauma hospital.

I don't know if they do transplants here but probably do.

You are on a path that we all must take. Some people handle it with relative ease. Find that way and then teach us what you have learned. Or take us along with you one day at a time. That way you won't be alone and we will all be wiser. ❤️
Extremely great post, from a person, I hadn't gotten to know before.
Thank you so much!

This is one of the amazing things that can happen at SF.

Kaila...good morning... well it's afternoon here now...

Are you still in hospital?... what have they done with your husband ?

hope you get some good food today (y) 🌺
I'm still at hospital.
I could be moved any day now, that they find the next spot. 😧😱

Not likely the food will improve at a rehab!

Huzs is home now, with short drop in home care visits, and son, coming back and forth
in our State to help us 2-3 days a week.

@Babs2u

I had to look, because I remembered that I knew you with a different name, but I couldn't remember who you were,
Without some research. 🧐

I was happy to find your previous....identity. ☺️
And am glad to see you here.

Hope hospital life isn't too dull for you.

A friend and I recently went to visit her mum in hospital. Her mum is 92 and although she looks frail, her mind is as sharp as ever it was.

Anyway, we arrived to find three nurses searching mum's bed, the bedside table and chair because, apparently, mum was claiming that they had lost her dentures. My friend's mum has, over recent years, lost quite a few of her teeth but, always refused to have dentures. As the nurses scurried off, laughing over the search for the non-existent dentures, my friend turned to her mum who was sitting on the bed, arms folded with a little smile on her face.

"Mum! You know you have never had dentures. Why waste their time, they are very busy you know"

Mum grinned. "Well, I didn't want to shout 'toilet' did I! I don't want everyone to know when I want a poo!!":)

Bit cheeky but, it worked! With three nurses in attendance, they not only searched for the teeth but, took her to the toilet, changed her bed and brushed her hair! So, I'm not suggesting you do the same thing but, you know, if it gets a little boring and you want to liven the ward up .... ;):ROFLMAO:
Hahaha.... why did you suggest I not do that?

It sounds great to me.

What a brilliant and creative woman.

Yes, they're busy every day, but we need a little attention too, especially when.....

Well, you get my drift. 😉
I'm just wondering how I could pull that
off.🤔

Thanks for the laugh today.

Good morning @Kaila. I'm think of you and sending a hug.

Well, I didn't want to be seen to be encouraging such behaviour but ,,, GO FOR IT!! 🤣

and don't forget to tell us all about it :)

There are many lonely hours in hospital, between stressful Dr visits and therapies...
to contemplate and to ruminate .....

However some bright spots in the day, today:

2 nurses spent an hour, one on each side, of me,
Combing out hair tangles acquired over the past 2 weeks.....
And French braided it.☺️

Early sunrise from this window was spectacular.

With aids and with ppl, I stood, today. 😭

Tears of gratitude...... even though it was a difficult task, and assisted....

This former dancer , hiker, tennis player, activist, teacher, and active mom......
I felt my feet on surface and got as upright as possible.

Thanks for being on the journey with me, my friends.

Hang in there! Have never been hospitalized for more than 24 hours, so have no clue how it must feel after a WEEK, so how DO you do it?!  Am not so good with words, but if I were closer I would come do anything to help that I could; cook, clean, fluff pillows, rub ur feet...harass medical staff ;)🤣
Great post, thank you very much for that!
