Whoa! The little town in central Florida where I went to work every day (well every work day) for over 30 years has made the national news! I'm so proud I'm about to bust.

BARTOW, Fla. — Authorities in central Florida say two middle school girls brought knives to school in a foiled plot to kill classmates, cut them up and drink their blood.


Arrest affidavits released Wednesday by the Bartow Police Department said the two girls, ages 11 and 12, were armed with knives Tuesday at Bartow Middle School before they were caught. No one was hurt.
Investigators said the girls planned to stake out a bathroom and wait for smaller students to enter.

The affidavit says the students planned to cut their victims' throats, cut up their bodies, eat the flesh and drink their victims' blood.

That this happened in a place that I am very familiar with is downright creepy to me.
 
Gee, shades of Slender Man. And the girls were about the same ages, too.

In this case, I'm thinking too much Twilight movies, although the "good" vampires only drank the blood of animals (I don't know why that was supposed to be all that much better).

I don't blame you for being creeped out.

My daughter taught school in Bartow up until about year and a half ago. But it wasn't at that school.

She's teaching out in California now.
 
I want to know "where are the parents?". It seems like parents today have checked out for good! My dad would have got the belt out if any of us had been that stupid!!
 
I can see where that would really hit home to you Trade.

Those girls weren't too bright anyway. How much did they think they could have eaten before someone came in the restroom and caught them? What did they think would happen AFTER they were caught? I hate to think that they will only be locked up till they turn 21. And that might just happen!

I had a SIL whos niece, joined with 2 others, and killed one of the kids grandma who had been very loving and kind to all 3 of the them. She was 15 at the time and was locked up till she was about 24 or 25 I think it was. I don't think people like this should be turned lose on society again but I'm sure there are many who would disagree with me.
 
Was that anywhere near Plantation, FL, where that guy lives who mailed out all those bombs? Maybe it's something in the water?
 
This world we live in is crazy . I don't know what can be done to change things,but I pray someone finds a way. You aren't safe any where in this world today.
