The British Army's Guards Regiments dress uniform includes a tall black bear skin cap. Every year 2 Canadian First Nation's bands provide about 100 new black bear pelts to the British Government, to be made into those dress uniform black fur caps. Rest assured that with over 150,000 Black bears living across Canada, there is no threat to their future, and in fact annual culls take place to control the black bear population in Canada.
A second Canadian contribution to the Royal Family is the tradition of giving a horse to the Monarch, as a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Queen Elizabeths favorite mount for the Trooping of the Colors each year in June was a RCMP horse named Burmese, which she rode for over 20 years. King Charles new mount is also a RCMP horse from their breeding farm outside of Ottawa.
The North West Mounted Police were first stood up in 1874, and their mission was to patrol and protect the 49th Parallel, which forms the border between the Canadian Provinces of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Alberta, and the United States. The NWMP first force was just 400 men, and they patrolled in pairs on horseback for 3 weeks at a time. The choice of the red serge tunic was deliberate, so that the Natives knew they were not US Army troops.
One of the first NWMP Officers was a son of Charles Dickens, the famous novelist. Despite having very poor eyesight, and being very allergic to horses, he lasted 7 years until he died of a heart attack at age 38. In 1920 the NWMP became the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and they are our national Federal Police Service, with 19,000 members in 2024. The RCMP has jurisdiction in all parts of Canada. Their cap badge is a large buffalo head, within a wreath of Maple Leaves.
