What was a go to saying your parents used-perhaps to let you know you were in trouble-or that you often use yourself?

When I would confront or argue with my parents, they would let me know real quick who was boss by saying'because I said so'

I always swore I'd never say that and one day my daughter said, when I wouldn't let her do something she wanted to do, "I'm going to resent you for that!" I opened my mouth and my mother's voice came out saying the EXACT!SAME!THING! she used to say.

When I was very young and still believed in him, there was always the admonishment that "Santa is watching" to ensure compliance. A clear invasion of privacy, and today a bit creepy!
