Good for Dick's Sporting Goods!

Good for Dick’s. However, the amount of assault rifles sold by Dick’s is probably minimum compared to the number sold at the hundreds of guns shows here in the U.S.

I saw that this morning!

I'm in favor of not selling assault weapons and large capacity ammo clips.

I'm still wrestling with the idea of raising the age to buy a gun from 18 to 21. Part of me feels that an 18 year old is not mature enough to purchase a gun and the other part of me says that if Uncle Sam can put a gun in his hand at 18 and send him halfway round the world to use it he should be able to buy one in his home town.

Such a complicated issue, it gives me a headache trying to decide what is right/fair.

Good for them. I will be buying more gift cards from them as that's the store the men folks in my family like. They like to fish and hunt but don't care for those type guns.

I have to wonder just how many "assault" rifles they actually were selling. Not sure this will impact them very much. They are gonna get all kinds of free advertisement in the meantime.

This is exactly right. You generally would not go to Dick's to buy your AR-15. That would be like Lance Armstrong going to Dick's to buy his bike, or Tiger Wood,s buying his clubs.

No, Dick,s will probably miss out a few sales but it sure is not going to hurt the bottom line.

So Dicks does something god and the posts here are pointing down. How about a little positive word? I have a 357, a 9 and a 40 cal. and have been wanting a 45 so I'm going to Dicks to buy it. Don't lose sight of the fact it takes one nut in one store to buy one weapon to kill many children and adults and so I praise Dicks to the max.

Calm down. I am positive about Dick's effort. I see it as a symbolic message to congress. There is, IMO, NO need for combat (looking) weapons, it turns 4Fs into wannabe "GI Joe's".

I thought it started out very positive. One nut could walk into walmart and take over the gun department...who's gonna boycott.

Like I wrote earlier, the number of assault weapons that Dick's sells is very few. Most assault weapons are purchased at gun shows where the restrictions for purchasing weapons of that sort are much less restrictive than walking into a sporting goods store, except for handguns. Back in 2004, we raided a dealer at a gun show, who had in his truck some really hi-tech military weapons that he was selling. The weapons had been stolen from a depot overseas (Germany, I believe) by employees and military personnel working together on the inside. We even confiscated RPGs.

It's encouraging to see corporations taking a stand and attempting to do their small part in helping to resolve this issue.

I hope that it shames our elected officials into getting off the dime and taking similar action.

It's starting to feel like we may have finally reached a tipping point on this issue.

Lsat night Walmat announced that it will not sell guns or ammo to anyone under 21..
