Got A Red Light Camera Infraction

We pulled a fifth wheel rv behind a pickup truck and saw how some of these red light cameras are out and out traps.
They are situated down hill and around a slight curve in a stretch of road with 50 mph speed limit.
The yellow light is about a tenth as long as a normal yellow light.
Even with electric brakes on the trailer I smoked the tires more than once on these money making intersections.
Sometimes I skidded a few feet past the stop line but through some miracle I never got a red light camera ticket!
I think that they are danger to other drivers because they cause people to go into dangerous skids trying to stop to avoid a ticket.

Otherwise, I stand by the statement that your post could have been written by a petulant teenager.

I've driven through yellow lights to avoid the brake slam on occasion, and on a couple of those, I even watched the light turn red while I was in the middle of the intersection. I've never got a ticket, so I assume there is some kind of "grace algorithm" written into the software. On one recent occasion, while braking for a yellow light, I had a big pickup accelerate behind me and pass me in the oncoming traffic lane at the intersection. He entered the intersection when the light was red. I considered that a flagrant violation.

You have to enter the intersection before the light turns red. If you cross the stop line while the light is green or yellow, you're not breaking the law. That's why it's legal to enter the intersection on a green, wait for oncoming traffic to stop when the signal changes, then proceed with a left turn when the light is yellow freshly red.
Los Angeles signals nearly all show countdowns on greens once they get to about 15 seconds from going yellow. It's where the walk/don't walk would appear. Very helpful information when you're still 10 car lengths out - if the clock is at 2, take your foot off the accelerator and prepare to stop, if it's at 12, you're good to go.
I was asked by my barracks Sergeant if I would take a TV reporter on a ride along. It was a 2 part series. The first part was questions on what requirements are necessary to become a state trooper. I go through the standard requirements of having good character and clean background checks. The vetting includes talking to neighbors, friends, prior teachers and so on. You must display yourself as neat and clean and be sociable.
The candidate will be asked many questions, including why do yo want to be a trooper, are you willing to work different or alternating shifts, do you like to talk to people and are you personable.
Part 2 consisted of going out on the road and patrolling the highways and taking emergency calls. We probably stopped at 8 cars parked along the turnpike on our ride along. We tagged them showing the date and time and gave the owner 24 hours to remove the vehicle or we have it towed and stored at the owner’s expense. Some people will leave a note “out of gas” or “stopped running.” We also found a few drivers pulled over and napping, which is illegal. We have specified areas for that.
It was kind of fun, but the TV reporter told me over lunch that she thinks we have a boring job. During the late afternoon, we were called to the scene of a fatal accident. A driver fell asleep and hit the median guard rail and killed himself. She then said, maybe she was wrong about our job being boring. I asked her if she wanted to see the body and she answered “no, thanks.”
