Got one of those scam messages today.

I mailed something out of state a few days ago so I was concerned when I got a message saying there has been a problem with a package I supposedly mailed.
I checked the routing number for the package I sent and it is right where it is supposed to be after two days and says it will be delivered Monday.
So by now I know this message is a scam.
I looked at what they wanted and it was just common stuff like address, phone number and Email address.
Now does it make sense that they need my phone number and Email address after sending me a message on my phone?
I filled out the information with a phony name and address and all of the rest of it was false.
Then I hit next and see where they want me to give them credit card information to pay for the supposedly additional postage.
I punched out 16 numbers over and over and each time it took them a couple of minutes to state that the credit card didn’t work.
Them I deleted the whole works hitting the message that says that site is a scam.
They use what looks like an official USPS site somehow as their URL.
So if you get a message from USPS saying they are having problems with a package you sent don’t give them any real information about yourself or any financial information.

I had not heard of this scam. There are a bunch out there and they are geting more 'creative'. But, pretty much every scam has the same kind of elements ---- asking you for info on yourself they should not need and asking you for money (or crypto).

email from someone ; somewhere - -"we have mailed the furniture etc to this site - many thanks for your kind gesture - your bill will now be issued - been checking my bank regularly - no such bills - simple one - too simple - let's wait and see?? - Can't be paid without my authorization!!

I was doing my normal business on my phone awhile back and a message popped up on my phones that said we have determined that this phone has been used for child porn.
I know that it was a scam because I never look at anything like that but it scared the crap out of me that maybe some scammer could make it look like I had.
I shut my phone down right away and waited for a short amount of time and then started doing my normal searches that have nothing. To do with sex.
Since then I have wondered if these scammers have ever framed a person by placing something like child porn on their phone and if there is some a way to protect yourself from that kind of thing.

in todays world anything almost is possible - put in the necessary safe guards in ya can!

I think I am better off asking people who are likely to know how to install those safeguards than to try to find information about it on the internet.
I can just imagine scammers and hackers setting up phony help sites for things like that.
I just thought of my nephew who is pretty smart about a lot of things and then I thought of a phone place that helped me with a problem with the phone before.

In the days when our landline numbers were held in the phone directory you could opt out from that, if you so wish. Your number would be known as: "Ex-Directory." Our landline number is still ex-directory, but it doesn't stop the scammers. They call and purport to be from the bank's security department, and very plausible they sound too. Staff at our bank have reassured me that the bank never contacts account holders by phone.
The parcel scam on this thread is a new one, something I must remember, given the prolification in parcel delivery with the explosion of online purchasing.

question ?? - is the world getting better or worst ?? - simple answer will do??
Hope you don’t mind a little more than a simple answer. I think it is getting better in some ways and worse in others as far as things that come off the internet there might be more people sitting around who have nothing more to do than to try to find more ways to scam people.
I think that some things are getting better and easier for more people all of the time.
