Greetings fellow seniors,
I am seventy years old coming from the forties and fifties. I tried to change my way of writing (in rote and memorization of the time). Didn't work. I also tried to write from the heart with creative writing again didn't work. Then tried to write in the seventies eighties nineties and yes the twenty first century way (interpretation).

I finally discovered there was a generation problem between me and todays writing forum in my original tongue English. I found out I cannot communicate with the younger generation in English because I do not cross my (i) and dot my (t'S), whoops! Paul

Welcome Paul, we need writers to fill the pages, the style doesn't matter all that much just getting thoughts down in reasonably cogent order is enough to have a say.

Like you I was imprinted with the 'formal' form and taught how to spell so that can be a disadvantage on Facebook etc but I'm learnin' to write in the vernacular and gaining insight into the younger demographic's thinking style through comments on Imgur 'n such.

They can be hilarious with mimimum use of words and that's a lesson I'm yet to learn, as you'll no doubt notice.

Anyway, join in and write awaaayyyyy. :) (and tell us stories, lurrrve stories.)

Wot she sed :lofl:

Seriously Paul, come in and make yourself at home.
You're among friends but not all of us are sane.

Hi Paul, welcome!

Don't mind the Aussies - they were part of the package deal with this forum, we had no choice. I've found if you just throw them some beer and chocolate once in a while they're generally manageable.

Again, welcome, and enjoy. ;)

Forget the beer, but I'm anybody's for chocolate.

It's terrible having a vulnerability, isn't it?

I'm anyone's slut for a pepperoni pizza. My roomie just bought me one tonight and I helped her place an order for more silly stuff online, an activity I usually view just below playing Pat-A-Cake with a leper.

Oh dear, some of my happier moments derived from buying silly stuff on line. Just shadup aboudit and eat ya pizza.

At least you know how to shop.

She was clicking on the shopping cart and wondering why her purchase wasn't in there, before she even registered or logged in. I had to take another deep breath and show her how online shopping carts aren't quite mind-readers.

Then she asked if they would send her a confirmation email to her Facebook account.

Many are the nights I weep silently in the darkness ...

Hi Paul welcome to The Crazy Older Folks home.

I've never been able to spell worth a tinker's darn, thankfully this forum has spell check so I don't embarrass myself too bad.

Being from Charlotte, I MapQuested and you're in one of the most beautiful parts of our State, near Cherokee National Park and the Great Smoky Mountains.....areas highly favored for vacation. Lucky you!

Jump right in and make yourself at home.:encouragement:

Dear Friends, :(
Interesting happened when I turned on my computer. I couldn't get on this senior forum nor my e-mail at g-mail. No matter what I did the computer had it's way. The web master saved the day after my screaming and using language you probably never have heard before (not at him he is a God sent and has the patience of Job). Plus I have a ADHD eight year old grandson with medicine, he still pushes the envelope of (Patiences) especially at my wifes age and mine (seventy). I have tried desperately to show folks especially English teachers English Majors and yes even English professors I have a serious disability called dyslexia and a reading and writing comprehension problem. My argument is they do not understand and cannot understand (my disability) because they do not have it.

This forum is a God sent help for me. Thank all of you especially the web master for his patience. I will not list all of the problems we have for they are long and no help is in sight. You have not lived until you are around a child of eight with ADHD! Are my sins following me around? I do not understand why God allows this to happen to me (my name isn't Job! I see others who to are under severe strain because of todays economy, and I ask...Why? I see and understand everybody's stress but mine. I see some of the answers, but they have fell on deaf ears. It's extremely difficult and frustrating to know what the problems are but cannot get no one to listen. I can look back on my life and answer every question I had then. Strange how that works.

Ok! Sermon over. Thanks for listening. Hope not to tire your ears. Paul
