Grocery bill this week was $101.27

@hollydolly

Some time back, someone (you?) mentioned one of those trolleys. I was going to get one until I realized that it would be very heavy when full. Lifting it in and out of the back of my vehicle, for me, would be a high risk for injury. *sniff* It seems like such a great idea!

Our tab is running about $200 a week for three adults. Which doesn't sound too bad unless you know none of us eat breakfast, I'm the only one who eats lunch at home, and most of our meals are meatless.

Eating meatless isn't necessarily cheaper , despite those who promote this. A pound of hamburger is more filling than a pound of lettuce, why don't people seem to not understand this????

yes they can be very heavy to lift if they are full... but it all depends on what you buy of course... I don't take the trolley into the store I leave it in thebboot of the car, and ffill it from the shopping cart when I leave the store.. so I'm not lifting, a full trolley INTO the car....so the only lifting is just taking out of the boot of the car at home.... and really it's quite easy even when full because it's very balanced, and mine certianly has 2 stng handles either side of the bag, as well the extending handle which makes it easy to lift out. ..because its balanced well.. it doesn't feel too heavy to pull along...

I recommend anyone who buys one of these ensures there are handles on the sides of the bag...

I don't eat much. I quit buying eggs BECAUSE THE PRICE NEVER WENT BACK DOWN! Yes, I'm screaming, I'm so angry re: how stupid we all are. $6. a dozen, after the bird flu reason has been gone for months now. Total rip-off by the stores. Of course the prices never went down! Why should they as us morons have stopped complaining?

I visit supermarkets to resupply most foods about twice a month, though drinks like milk and fruit juice more often. My bill as a single person living alone with conservative eating habits, has never been more than $80 and is usually about $40. So monthly less than $200. As many others here, I infrequently visit restaurants or fast food businesses except when on the road traveling. Even during winter ski season when I'm often lodging in South Lake Tahoe, I use the Raleys and Safeway supermarkets for most food.

My most expensive regular food habits are whole milk, Aged Gouda Cheese (~$15/pound), broccoli cheddar soup, various fruit juices, cheesecake, and other sweet deserts.

One of the local stores near me is having a spice drive. Never thought about it, but seems like a good idea. If a person has some spices they can make any food more appealing, not to mention with the holidays coming up. Oh, and they seem to be purging their spice selection-- coincidence?

I feel for you Pep. Here, my dozen eggs cost 2.72
I think area has a lot to do with prices.

£3. 25 here for a dozen free range.. on average , that's $4.40 US approx...

..but of course if we can pay up to £8 for a dozen depending on what we buy.. for example I like.. free range Chestnut Maran eggs and they are £5.80 per dozen... $7.85 US approx...

I occaionally like to buy Duck eggs... which in the supermarket are a premium price.. at £6.20 a dozen... $8.40 approx US...so instead I buy them at the nearby Farm shop for about £2 less

2.2kg of chocolate chips at Costco $40
Nestle choc chips are $14.99 for 72 oz at my Costco.

Eggs are back to about $2.49/dozen here (Costco).

10-1/2 months a year, I spend about $50/week between Aldi and my produce stores, $300/month at Costco, and $50 at Walmart pickup. Much of all of these are food. So $125 - $150/week average. Mind you, we eat no pork, beef or poultry. DH eats eggs and cheese; I avoid both.

I don't live too far from agricultural centers in Mexico and California, so we get excellent quality produce at reasonable prices. Also have numerous grocery store options, so prices remain competitive. I'd guess there are 50 grocers within 10 miles of my home, probably more.

Come Christmas season my grocery bills always go through the roof. I'm fine with that. 🍕🎄🍪🤶
