Apologies @horseless carriage it Dolly is a national treasure for many reasons and deserves her own thread.😇😇

Besides her prolific song writing ability. Dolly is quite a philanthropist. Her most notable being the Imagination Library for small children everywhere.

Tennessee‘s governor declared January 19th as Dolly Parton Day.

The city of Nashville got five brand new snow plows and held a name contest for them in the county schools. One winner was “Dolly Plowton”.

Everyone has their own opinions regarding entertainment figures, but Dolly is a non-confrontational entertainer. Even if you don’t like her music, there’s no reason to not like her as a human being.

I happen to like most of her music... I think the music industry will be a sorry place when she passes....

A lot of people don't know that Dolly wrote that song and, I think, sang it better than Whitney with a slower build. She said later that she wrote it for Porter Wagoner when she had to leave his show. That's where I first saw her when she was just the girl singer who did a few numbers.

I think she's just a wonderful person, never took herself too seriously, and these days almost everything she does is for charity.

I've known all along that she wrote that song... what people might not realise is that before Whitney, Elvis wanted to record the song, his manager Tom Parker, tried to get Parton to agree to allow Elvis to have 50% of the publishing rights of the song...she refused point blank , so EP was able to perform the song, but was never allowed to record it...

I followed the breakup. A "rare respectful breakup" is an over-simplification of what occurred. He sued her for 3 million; she paid out 1 million, and I have a 1980 record album which also came about from that LAWSUIT.
