Harassment by American Heart Association

Day and night...everyday the calls come in from this outfit. Three weeks now and no matter what I do, the calls keep coming. My answering machine is loaded with this junk. In doing some research on google, I’m finding out this is pretty much a scam. Maybe 10% goes to the cause, the other 90% goes in the pockets of the people setting up the calls. Maybe this is another good reason to take out landline and use just our cells. At least we can block the calls.
Anyone else plagued with these calls?

Yeah, been getting them as well. At least caller ID has their name. I usually Zap them, but doesn't stem the tide. A real "Heart" attack! Didn't realize the scope and scale of this SCAM....thanks, Pappy!

Most "charities" which make unsolicited phone calls are quite often a scam. Most of them spend more for "administrative costs" (lining someone's pockets), than they ever do for their supposed charity activities. If a person really wants to donate to a charity, they should do some research on sites such as charitywatch.org before donating. This site shows how much actually goes to the purported "cause". If this site doesn't show a breakdown of where the money goes, it's a pretty good bet that the Charity is a scam.

Cellphones aren't immune to this spam either, and yes, it is harassment Pappy:( I don't know if you've already found this page/site Pappy, or anyone interested (in need) but you might find something you can use here. The donotcallregistry might be of help. But honestly, I don't trust them either. Others might have had luck with them though, and might share here on the thread. I guess if your number is on their list, then telemarketers are not allowed to call you, something like that.

Also, Phishing, scamming and other "harassment" is covered on the site. Lots of "possibly" good information:

My phone has been ringing off the hook too by telemarketers like that too, but mostly Medicare advantage spammers, I'm on the no call list for years now, doesn't seem to matter.

Time to dump the landlines.

With a cell phone you can get an app that does a really good job of blacklisting junk calls,

Do Not Call doesn't work for charities. It only blocks unsolicited calls from businesses.

My AT&T phone does give the option of blocking particular numbers. Pappy, if you can find out if yours does, that would probably take care of your problem.
