Have you ever required an Ambulance?

I had a 60 km ride in one after my car crash.
Plus I had a ride in one when I had an Epileptic Seizure.
That one cost me $863.
I now have Ambulance Cover

No. My husband, yes because of heart issues. I heard the sirens and then it was quiet. They turn off lights and sirens a few blocks away. We’ve had ambulances in the subdivision and I never knew until days later. The crew doesn’t want people milling about.

I had one once that was quite the unconscious experience. I was suffering from shortness of breath which I would wake up late at night with.

Little did I realize that this was the warning signs of a congestive heart failure. So it went on for a couple of weeks and then one night I woke up short of breath and I knew give it a few moments it'll pass.

So while I'm waiting it for it to pass I decided to take a glass of water. Boom! There I was in a major congestive heart failure. The drawback was that my breathing was next to an infant's, basically very little air.

I called 911 and they dispatched an ambulance. I'm standing there and I see them coming and they're turning right towards me and then go right past me! 😱😱😱

They then realize that that guy in a pair of pants, with nothing else on is there prospective patient. I was taken in laid down and passed out immediately. The doctors told me another 2 minutes and I would have been in cardiac arrest.

Six and a half days later I walked out of legacy hospital. Later I received a letter stating I owed $42,000 and then I sent them my 1040 form and their response was to zero out the account.

Only twice. Once when in the Coast Guard, back in 1953 and in late December last year after a fall at home.
Also,in 1955, while still in the service, I was taken by our ships motor lifeboat, across St. George Harbor from our ship to the base hospital at Kindly AFB in Bermuda. Had an injured leg and broken wrist. Not exactly an ambulance ride but the launch served the same purpose.

Yes! I have broken both sides of my collarbone which required an ambulance. I was knocked out cold. Another time I was in a car accident and needed an ambulance. 🚑
Another time I needed an ambulance and I wasn’t unconscious. All times I had to pay for the ambulance fee since it’s not covered under the insurance. Its around $75

For myself, no, but I was once in an ambulance when I was teaching, many years ago. It was the day of the athletics carnival and one of the girls running in the hurdles landed awkwardly and reported numbness in her feet.

We suspected that she had possibly injured her back and called the ambos. They decided to take no chances and we, the girl and I, were driven to the nearest hospital at snail pace with the light flashing but no siren. Along the way a motorcycle police officer saw us coming and did a U turn. He provided an escort in front of the ambulance.

One car decided to cut across in front of us and the police officer took off after him. I suspect he got a severe talking to.

I stayed with the young girl until her parents arrived, which wasn't very long and fortunately she had not suffered any spinal damage. I don't remember how I made it back to school to my car. One of the other teachers must have collected me.

As deputy principal I often followed an ambulance conveying one of the students to hospital but only once was I actually in the ambulance myself. I always waited until a parent arrived as my duty was to be "in loco parentis".

In loco parentis is a Latin term that means "in the place of a parent". It refers to a legal relationship in which a person or organization assumes and discharges the obligations of a parent to a child. The doctrine is derived from English common law and is applied in two areas of the law: education and child custody.

yup...I have ridden to the hospital in an ambulance well over 3000 times a year.
Are you an EMT?

I have never ridden in an ambulance, but have helped load many others into one, including a Medivac.
