Have you lost height as you age?

WOW! I've never heard of 7! I have finally decided to talk to a surgeon about my back pain. I figure after 55 or so years of back pain I deserve some relief.
I used to get regular ( every 3 or 4 years or so )... cortisone injections and that really helped to keep my back from seizing, and left me able to carry on a normal life, as if I had no problems... but eventually the surgeon said they couldn't give me any more.. because it weakens the bones of the spine, and the surrounding muscles.. so I just continue on the best I can.

I am still able to walk easily.. not disabled by this, but my back hurts every day.. just even making the bed ..the slightest bend from the waist is as if I've been bending for hours it's so painful.. but otherwise for now with the help of the occasional heat pads, and painkillers, I'm living a relatively normal life...

Lost close to 4" in height. I may have lost more since then, but I won't check. I refuse to be under five feet!
4 inches OMG

I understand 4 inches ..or 9 inches.. if someone is now 100 years old... but c'mon guys if you're 20 or 30 years away from 100 .. there's something else wrong.. the shrinkage is not just due to age...

Yikes! I have shrunk.

Decades ago was supposedly roughly 66 inches that is in my military record. Just measured with an accurate Stanley flexible metal band scale at 64.7 inches. So in rough terms have lost one inch. Except when in USAF Basic Training where we were all shaved, have had a thick mat of hair. But this last 2 decades have slowly lost thick hair at the skull dome top that could account for a few tenths of an inch.

My dad was average height for an American male - 5"11". My mom was petite barely making it to 5". I was in between when I was in my 20s (in the photo, my mom's hair is quite puffed up on the top). She was sensitive about her height and was always trying to look taller by teasing up her hair and wearing high heels.

You look like you have high heels on
Your mom’s heels look about 1 1/2 inches high so it’s hard to tell from the picture how tall you were . Maybe 5’3”

Note, most people rarely if ever have had their height carefully measured. So probably just accept the crude measurements occasionally performed at doctor offices that is invariably while wearing shoes that is not accurate enough if just an inch to be noticeable.

I was measured by a spine specialist and I know it’s accurate because I used to be a tad taller than my husband.
