Have you lost height as you age?

May I ask the name of this product? I am willing to try anything at this point. Is it available only at Costco?
Yes. I’m sorry. I meant to add the name and photo but I forgot. Here it is. It’s a Kirkland product which is their own brandname but ( I think ) Running Man stores sell it too

:) Walk. And keep your back straight ie never twist.
I am walking more now since my hip replacement 5 wks ago. I am an avid walker, but the pain persists. I have used Hydrocodone 10 mg in combination with ibuprofen 400 mg (the two together work synergistically), still no relief. PT does not help. Heat does not help. Core exercises do not help. Praying does not help. Petting a therapy dog does not help. Salonpas patches do not help. My back hurts. What will stop the pain? HELP!!!

Have you tried those electrical pads to stimulate your back muscles. They are called TENS units? Have you tried stretching exercises each day? Have you tried seeing a chiropractor? A massage therapist or physiotherapist?

I do have a TENS unit. No help. Physical therapy utilized core exercises. No help. Tried a chiropractor yrs ago when the pain was less, no help. Have not tried massage therapy or acupuncture yet. I have stenosis. I do not think massage will help that. I need a med that works on the pain messages to the brain. I have no faith in acupuncture, but maybe I'll give it a try. I'll see if my ins covers it.

Sorry I missed this. Have you tried alternating cold compresses with hot ones. There are also these pads that my husband swears by. They are medicated pads that you stick to the areas that hurt. IMG_4547.jpeg
This too is helpful

don't see a normal chiropractor, do what I did and see a Sports Physiotherapist.. they specialise in Sport injuries which can be really severe. I'd seen many Chiropractors with no reduction in my pain..long before the steroid injections.. and it wasn't until I got to have several visits with a Sports PT that my pain was markedly reduced..

I completely agree in going to see a physiotherapist. Get your General Practitioner to send you there so your insurance might pay for it. These people ARE specifically trained to mend serious back injury. It’s not an instant fix. In fact, sometimes it hurts worse before it gets better.

Will you guys reply to a back pain meds thread if one is started? I have yet to find a med that works for me.
Pain meds cause constipation and are hard on liver and kidneys. A new mattress might help. Gentle exercise as taichi. There are many topical pain meds, as cannabis creams, peppermint or boswellia (frankincense) oils. And many herbs can be taken internally for pain, as turmeric or ginger. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I may try another chiropractor before I decide on a minimally invasive surgery.

Turmeric is great for relieving pain

Actually I have been using 2300 mg daily for about a year. I started it for the inflammation reduction benefits it offers.
Wow. And that doesn’t help. It’s supposed to be great for relieving inflammation which in turn relieves pain. You must be in bad shape.
I’m sorry you are feeling this badly. Back pain can be horrendous

5 weeks isn't very long ago. Maybe time will help? The pain management doctor used gabapentin for a back fracture for someone I know.

Note, most people rarely if ever have had their height carefully measured. So probably just accept the crude measurements occasionally performed at doctor offices that is invariably while wearing shoes that is not accurate enough if just an inch to be noticeable.

Most men lie about their height. The average add on is probably around 2 inches.

I've tried acupuncture; temporary relief, and honestly, I think it's mostly psychosomatic.

I also have spinal stenosis. The only medications that work for me are opioids. My Dr tried me on a class of meds called inhibitors, that cut off your brain receptor's ability to perceive or transmit pain, but they don't work on the type of pain stenosis causes. Plus they made me feel drunk and stupid all the time.

I've had 3 RFA procedures; 2 worked, one didn't. One of the ones that worked, the 1st one, kept me gloriously pain free for 6 months, and relatively pain free another 3 months. The second one did the same but for less time, a total of about 5 months.

Physical therapy doesn't do a thing, but hanging head-down helps for hours. I do this at home: hang by my knees from a padded chin bar with my shoulders just about an inch from the floor, and my head rests on the floor. This decompresses your spine, and you feel really good for, like I say, a few hours or so. A large slant board works, too, if you lie on it on your back with your head at the low end, but inversion tables work even better (at a 45 to 80-degree angle). And you can do this every day and multiple times a day if you want. You only have to do it for 10-15 minutes.
