Have you noticed they started putting more ads on tv?

Everybody knows that cable TV networks cut the hell out of TV programs to stick a few more commercials in. But now, some networks have been sticking in 6 more minutes of ads during the show. They start at 9:58 and go to 10:04. So to watch an hour show, we have to sit through 6 more minutes of Geico ads. The SOB are sticking them in here and there, waiting for us to yell.

What's really bad is when you are watching an old rerun of something like Bonanza or Gunsmoke and the original show had maybe five minutes of commercials in the hour time slot, but now they are cramming 20 minutes of commercials in there so they have to butcher out 15 minutes of the show. So you wait through all the commercials and then when the show comes back on you have no idea what just happened.

Unless I REALY, REALLY needed it, I would boycott every damned one of their products !

Guess that'll show them ! (I'm a dreamer.)

That's okay, as the networks have been speeding up reruns by as much as 9%. I DVR everything, so zipping past commercials has become 2nd nature.

I've got it down to a science. The commercials come on, I hit the Mute button, and make use of the bathroom, catch up on email, get a snack, switch to another channel, grab a nearby newspaper, etc.

But mostly, I watch the non-commercial channels. To me, the few bucks I pay Netflix and HBO a month are well worth it, both for the lack of commercials and the quality programming.

I either hit 'mute' when a commercial comes on or play a computer game of solitaire for awhile.

I made and connected a "mute" button on our TV many years before there were remotes. It was a huge improvement. That was in 1961.

Here in Australia we quite often see the same add played 2/3 times in the one add break ,I'm like many others I hit the mute button ,and do a loo stop ,get a snack ,make a cuppa ....or actually "Talk" to my hubby

I really don't watch over the air TV any more at all, partly because of the commercials, partly because there's nothing much worth watching. Mostly I do either Netflix or Acorn TV. A short commercial break is one thing, but nowdays they go on forever and it drives me nuts, so I just don't watch.

Here's a tip. If your cable has 'on demand' where you can rerun old shows, the commercials are missing.

I often watch Canadian Pickers and American Pickers and some History programs. No commercial on the replay.

I use the mute button sometimes and DVR some shows, then FF. I have DVDs for some of my favorite old shows...many of them for all the seasons that ran.

I watch very few things on regular T.V. now. I subscribe to Hulu commercial free streaming and I have the Kodi & SPMC apps that streams programing commercial free (when they work properly). Only ever now and then I watch On Demand and now the CW Seed which has lots of commercials. When watching wha's supposed to be an hour show via streaming, it usually cuts the shows down to 42 or 43 minutes, half hour shows are cut down to about 21 minutes. If I do happen to watch something with commercials, I try to do something else until the show comes back on.

I'm much too old to waste time watching commercials. I record what I might want to watch and then use the fast-forward feature to skip the commercials but it takes a quick eye as well as hand to work the remote buttons just right. Often over-shoot and have to go back. Life sure gets tedious at times! :)

It makes me sick that the cable companies cost a lot of money per month and all you get to watch are commercial after commercial. I also mute the tv during all the commercials, but it doesn't help because then I have to hear my Husband rant and rave about all the Darn commercials !
