Health Care CEO murdered in NYC in a targeted attack

It seems like they have all the evidence they need right now, but there are reasons for wanting every last bit. No stone left unturned, so to speak.

Weapon details.

NYT- "was at least partially produced by a 3D printer. The giveaways are subtle: The Glock logo is absent from the pistol’s grip, where it would ordinarily be imprinted, and the angle of the grip is peculiar. Indentations on the grip, known as stippling, are patterned in such a way that the gun’s “fingerprint” can be directly linked to a unique free-to-download 3D-printed design known as the FMDA 19.2 Chairmanwon Remix."

The slide, barrel, and magazine were store bought. The weapon probably would have functioned properly had there been a Nelson device btwn the muzzle and the suppressor.

FDMA - free men don't ask. Presumably 19.2 refers to a Glock Model 19 and the .2 is the 2nd version of the 3D printed design. Chairmanwon is a screen name for the designer of the weapon.

I hate insurance companies. My parents have both passed on. Eons ago, my dad could hardly walk with his back being so painful, but his employer's insurance doctor tried to do his utmost to deny my dad his claim.
I gather you are Canadian. Wasn‘t your dad covered by national insurance?

If I'm not mistaken, the gun frame would also have been purchased and would have needed some minor machining done to it. The frame is where the serial number normally is. The "blanks" don't have a serial number on them.

I think you are mistaken. The frame was a part that was 3D printed, hence no serial number aka a "ghost gun."

You might be right.

Homemade 3D-printed Glock frames were unreliable until online retailers began selling metal rails that could be inserted to the printed frame so that the firearm’s slide could cycle when fired. With the rails installed, such a gun can typically stand up to the firing of a few hundred rounds or more before stresses start to show in the frame, depending on how fast the weapon is fired.

Mangione was arraigned Monday for the CEO killing. Gone is the ranting, the incoherent rambling. He's quiet, and calm. He's dressed in the latest Menedez going to court clothes- white shirt and sweater, dress pants, shined shoes. What a difference a high-priced defense attorney makes.

He's from a wealthy family, so that's probably got something to do with it.

I couldn't imagine the boredom people must experience in prison. Then again, they might have organized activities to keep busy.

I've lost interest in this. He's just another street murderer, now taking advantage of his "privileges" as a rich white boy. The people who support him are morally bankrupt, or idiots, or most likely both.

I'll tune out until he's sentenced, hopefully to life in prison, as I'm against the death penalty.

Haven't read through the entire thread so don't know if anyone mentioned this, but why the heck did they need so many people to escort this guy? Even his lawyer commented that she'd never seen so many escorts for one person. He was shackled and handcuffed for goodness sakes.

Also, can you imagine the shame he has brought to his family?! I wonder if that's not part of the reason he did it.

You can't see him in this pic, but my corrupt mayor, Eric Adams, was in back of the crowd. Luigi's lawyer has already commented on that, that his appearance at the event is self serving and potentially poisonous.

TPTB are making a statement. The perp walk along with the terrorism charges are sending a message to the plebs; the corporatocracy must be protected no matter how many deaths they're personally responsible for.

I think it's mostly theatrical. Here's a seemingly compliant prisoner shackled and surrounded with guards bearing enough arms to take out a terrorist cell. Do they think he going to make a break for it?

It's also possible that they are protecting him from a murder attempt by a disgruntled insurance company supporter. But if the danger is in fact that imminent, why are the Mayor and other dignitaries there? Theatrics.

I totally agree Dave.

@Papper, I had seen on the news that the Mayor was there...he felt it was important to show his face. No further comment.

Here's his pic from Starbucks. Somebody's going to recognize him.

[EDIT: @RadishRose beat me to it, although this is a slightly different photo.]

Unless I am mistaken this individual is as good as caught. Too much of his face and hands are exposed. Every Federal and more than likely local law enforcement agencies share the "Facial Recognition Database", local law enforcement access to traffic intersection cameras, license plate readers and informants. This particular model may still be in the existing inventory

FBI's Facial Recognition Database Will Include Non-Criminals

…corporations are people….

That’s craziness. I first learned about it in the 90s in an Utne Reader article titled Chomp by Jim Hightower… not 100% sure of author but title and publication are correct. If I’m remembering correctly, giving corporations the same rights as individuals goes back to Lincoln’s presidency and he was opposed to it. Will try to find the article.

Edit to say Hightower was the author. I remember the article because it made such an impression I cut it out and saved it which I hardly ever do.

Heard one talking head the murder suspect has to be careful about playing up the big insurance company evil card because it could make the terrorism charge easier to prove.

It's come out United wasn't his insurance company or he did not have a denied claim with them.

He's winding up like Che everybody thought some cool revolutionary but nothing but a pos killer.

don't know how important..it is...
but..it was 'mentioned '.

While "incarcerated"...
got a haircut.
To make him 'look ...less savage'?
