Health Care CEO murdered in NYC in a targeted attack

I already knew all this. What he meant was that there are rules for license photos. You don't have those guidelines in Canada? If he meant something else, I hope he'll correct me. @rgp
Yes we have those kinds of guidelines in Canada, but Diva's face wasn't obscured at all so she met those guidelines and it seemed that wasn't good enough and rgp took a stand. So I asked the question.

If it goes to trial the prosecution might have a hard time seating 12 jurors willing to vote to convict. I know I wouldn't.
I think if I were on the jury, I would wait for the entire trial to complete presenting the evidence and weigh it before deciding to convict. I would have to put this pre-trial thought out of my mind:

"He is a murdering coward. Shooting a human being in the back", the executive might as well have been a child."

When one shoots one in the back, the one shot in the back has ZERO clue you have a beef with them nor do they have time to TRY to defend themselves. The shooter is a coward, as they don't want anyone to look them in the eye or try to defend themselves.

The shooter played jury, judge, and executioner all in one act.

Whoever the murder is; no one has been convicted yet.

Thank you for your thoughtful feedback.

Agree degrees are nothing to experience, except to get licensed in some states/countries.
Education means nothing if one has no experience to back it up.
Did not intend to throw my education around at all.

I was simply trying to add some authenticity to some of my communication to reassure those who may doubt where I come from on some subjects. When I look at posts, I always try to figure out from where and why the post is what it is. Analysis of course is my go to. I also like in person interactions FAR more than online - in person I seem to do VERY well. I think the issue is one cannot see expressions, and body language online and that is probably more than 50% of communication in humans, 80-100 percent in most animals.

Now, I don't know squat about IT, etc! I wish I did, but am the last person to be able to discuss that subject!! 🤣 I admire people who know IT, AI, electricity, etc. big time! Further, anyone with an math based life science or engineering degree, and the ability to pass the licensing: they gotta be smart in some specific ways, so I admire that on line. But if the person has ZERO common sense and no bedside manner?

Some don't have a good bedside manner, or social skills (aka geeks) but I don't dislike them for that lack, it doesn't negate the intelligence part.

Online communication is very difficult, even video online is difficult for some of us.
It is a skill I don't do well with in either direction with some people.

Again thank you for your feedback. Very helpful and kind.
Online communication is open to misunderstandings, I completely agree. One thing I've learned is that sarcasm is 90% of the time, a big fat fail and for the reasons you mentioned, because tone of voice and body language are crucial in the delivery and you don't have those with written words.

I'm actually more competent personally, in an online situation because I have time to consider my words and go back over them before hitting the Post Reply button. In person, I've had enough cases of blurting something out and then instantly regretting what I said or how it came out, that I'm more inclined to just sit back and be quiet. It's safer that way😉 and so I'm not left for days after reliving that mortifying moment when I put my foot in my mouth.

What are your degrees in, @CooCooforCoCoPuffs? Just curious. :)
AAS Engineering
BS Health Services and Hospital Administration
Master's degree, Gerontology - Counseling minor, Abuse focus.
At 51 I got my second Bachelor's - to become an RN, as I'd been out of full time Hospital Administration a while. If you don't already know, hospital administration is a seriously shunned task. As an administrator I was holding purse strings and compliance; having to hold clinical staff feet to the fire on budget and doing things by the rules; and many in the helping professions didn't want budget constraints, that sort of thing - compassion and guilt kick in.

At one juncture, was on the track to be a doc. That was until my third child was born and Uncle Sam Desert Storm whisked me away on active duty for 11 months. My kids were 2 and 4 at the time; I had a 14 year old daughter.

I'd just filed for divorce from my husband, I found out he had sexually abused her - right before Desert Storm kicked off.

A nightmare ensued for 19 years, he was an airline pilot for United and had lots of money to spend on lawyers.

Me, not so much.

Repeating my post #363 on page 15 responding to a post suggesting he must be mentally ill:

Health Care CEO murdered in NYC in a targeted attack

Possibly but IMO probably not. In other words, very sane and intelligent but maybe an antisocial personality disorder sociopath that is not mental illness and only a disorder in the sense they are doing things the rest of society considers criminal hurting others. Same thing with many life long criminals. They don't get emotional hurting others they don't like.

One needs to understand how little in this era, some people value other's human lives and could kill others with little remorse. Given his elite educational background, he obviously developed some strong philosophical views that may be in line with liberal Antifa anarchists. Expect fair numbers of extremists like them don't value lives of their extreme opposites. One only needs to look at all the supposed social media support he is reported as having that reflects others that might kill those they don't like also if they thought they could get away with such crimes.

-------------------

So indeed LM, like I suspected before he was named and caught, he thinks like an anarchist. Nothing to do with mental illness but rather is an antisocial personality disorder sociopath with an agenda just like any other terrorists. Here are LM quotes:

4 Stars for the Unabomber: 'Person of interest' in CEO slaying reviewed killer's manifesto

He was a violent individual (The Unabomber Manifesto) − rightfully imprisoned − who maimed innocent people," Mangione wrote. "While these actions tend to be characterized as those of a crazy luddite, however, they are more accurately seen as those of an extreme political revolutionary.”

“When all other forms of communication fail, violence is necessary to survive. You may not like his methods, but to see things from his perspective, it's not terrorism, it's war and revolution."

I am almost sure that already somebody in Hollywood is writing the script for a movie of this case. Which actor is as handsome as Luigi Mangione? Suggestions please.
Mel Gibson - in his day; George Clooney - in his day.

I don't know any young men that I notice are good looking that is creepy ;) at my age.
My sons are what women seem to think are good looking, but they are both tall blondes with blue eyes; therefore I won't recommend them to the casting director. 🤣

"When all other forms of communication fail, violence is necessary to survive. You may not like his methods, but to see things from his perspective, it's not terrorism, it's war and revolution."
Reference this last sentence.

Recent to memory thoughts:

If they (opposition/parent) don't do what you (BLM/child) want them to do for what you think is good for you, you pitch fits and yell, stomp and scream for a while. If that does not work to get your way, then you start throwing things, breaking things, then you set things on fire, then kill things with the justification that murder is needed to make your point.

I believe that is what one could call anarchist tactics or terrorist tactics.
"Defund the Police" mantra of BLM was BLM destroying the first line of defense of civil society.

BLM, to ME is a terrorist organization.
Why it wasn't treated as such at the time, I truly wonder.

Thank God we vote every four years so we could vote out the idiots that folded to this terrorist anarchist group and their propaganda.

Wow! You are so qualified for so many things! Hard worker with goals and aspirations....if I had it to do all over again, I'd hope that I'd make better use of my time like you did. Unfortunately, coming from the projects, my aspirations were considerably lower than yours. Must have been rough being a mom in your situation but I hope that you have good relationships with your kids today.

Legal issues aside, shooting a guy in the back is efficient. You sneak up close for a better shot, and the victim does not have advantage to defend or counter attack, so it's safer for you. Having a verbal debate first, doesn't facilitate the job in any way. I suppose you could have called him on the telephone, and told him you were waiting outside for a gunfight, and you would meet him at sundown by the corral. But if you get caught for the murder, it's not like they go easy on you because you fought "fair and square." But if you just want to kill him, stealth and surprise is always the better option. It doesn't make it any more or less ethical. Its still murder either way.

Certainly efficient. In an execution type of way for certain.
You are correct is still murder, agree with you there!

Still, I would wait to find out the details; typical me, just hoping beyond hope that this isn't yet another person gone off the deep end of irrational. AKA 'nut job' murderer.

Of course people will blame guns and not the guy.

From what I see at this point it certainly wasn't self defense! ;):ROFLMAO:

I came from projects too.
My mother didn't graduate from high school, had babies by the time she was 17; three by 23.

You sound so bitter (who or what has caused you to be this way?) and jealous (envy) of people who have money. What a sad existence I feel coming from you. Being jealous of anyone is just sad. Venom and hate is an exhausting past time.
CooCooforCoCoPuffs. This is not about how long you've been on this forum, how much education you have, or how much you worry care about others.

It's about the above post you directed at Pepper. It is a personal attack, something that is not allowed on this board. You called her bitter, jealous, venomous and hateful. You were not being analytical or concerned, you were being aggressive and just plain mean.

New people are welcome here and we all enjoy a good debate with many different opinions. Your input is welcome but your insults are not.

This from Luigi's notebook:

“What do you do? You wack the C.E.O. at the annual parasitic bean-counter convention. It’s targeted, precise, and doesn’t risk innocents,” was one passage written in the notebook, the officials said.

Thompson was making $10 million a year, which is repugnant enough, but another CEO at UnitedHealthcare is making $30 million a year! I'll bet he's going around with a personal bodyguard if he's leaving his home at all.

She said the scarf didn't cover her face. Did you miss that part? What would you have done if some Ukrainian grandma walked in with her scarf tied around her head? Would your attitude have been different because she was pasty white?
My attitude would be the same. The photo is for identity purposes , a scarf on the head changes that identity , just ones hair can change their identity.

Give Einstein a crew-cut, and I doubt you would recognize him.

Diva who is Muslim, said her head covering didn't cover her face and then rgp very caustically asked if she felt her beliefs(scarf) was more important than people's lives (?????) and stated that he wouldn't sell to her or give her the driver's license (because of a scarf that didn't cover her face). And because her chosen avatar is a black woman I'm going to assume that she's not pasty white so why don't you tell me what you think he/she meant?
As opposed to thinking about what he [that would be me] meant. Why don't you just reread what he [again me] actually did say ?

I'm not a mind reader so I don't know what you meant. Words can hide meanings although 'I wouldn't sell to you.....', seems pretty clear. And if you're confused as to identity by a scarf, then how do you recognize people on a day to day basis? Does that mean that if you get a passport, you can never change your hairstyle because passport officials won't recognize you when you hold out your passport? Hmmm, if I ever get a passport, I'll have to give it some thought as to how I do my hair because it'll have to be forever. If I want to travel that is.

Maybe instead, it would be easier to just accept one another and try to get along. I'm guessing you didn't mean what I'm asking about and simply made a mistake and I'm willing to accept that. So why don't we put it behind us? Please? I'm sorry, I'm just in a mood today and feeling short with everyone, so yeah, my apologies.
