Thank you. I appreciate your concern. The hubby has had one for years with no problems. You just have to have it checked out so you know for sure what the situation is. Hopefully it will be nothing and you can put it out of your mind. Meanwhile my thoughts are with you. Waiting is the hard part.
Thank you. That's good to know.My mother had one for decades and lived to be 93.
That's good you saw the cardiologist. In reality they could mean nothing or it could be a serious heart problem.I've had one for years. The cardiologist said it was nothing to worry about, so I don't.
Thank you oldman. I have had a racing heart beat at times and out of breath at times more lately and according to what I read those could be signs of a problem. I will see when I have tests in Cardiology.I was born with my murmur. I have been seen by Cardiologists for other things such as my FAA physical and they tell me that my murmur is more of a nuisance than it is problematic. If it's from a leaking valve, there may be more to it, but thankfully mine isn't.
I have a pilot friend that had his discovered during a routine FAA physical and had to go and get cleared by a Cardiologist. They performed a heart catheterization on him and found that he did have a leaky valve that needed replaced. He had his done at his local hospital in Ohio and he told me that they don't cut you down the middle of the chest anymore. All they did was to go in through the groin with the new valve and slipped it inside of the defective valve and everything works great. He said that he has much more energy now and feels like a 35 year-old again. After he healed, he had to pass some stress tests doing exercises and treadmill work, but he was back to flying in about 3-4 weeks.
Medicine has come a long way.
