or it should be from St.Petersburg Russia, where I am at present staying with my Russian partner for a month. I hope to enjoy my time on this forum and make new friends while learning about how other people live in this autumn of our lives. At least I hope its autumn, as I am not ready for the winter part yet :eek:nthego:

Welcome Merlin, from the southernmost corner of Vancouver Island, B.C. Canada, where the great white north never happens! I hope you enjoy being a member of this forum!

Good Morning to you Merlin..and welcome to the forum. We're all over 50's on here but not everyone is retired. :D

I'm just leaving for work...have a good day, you'll find lots of nice people here.

Thanks Shalimar I am sure I will, have never been to Canada, let alone Vancouver Island, will look it up, we frequently get a taste of the great white north where I am at present :)

Thanks hollydolly, I have been self employed all my life, so sort of always semi-retired ;) my partner here, is at work today so I am surfing and discovered this forum by chance.

Thank you Knightofalbion, I know Glastonbury very well, also thanks to Ken N Tx, Pappy, Pam, Jackie22, Falcon, and SeaBreeze, looking forward to catching up with you all.

As you may have heard, our sun has been a bit colicky lately and there have been sightings of the northern lights in the upper latitudes. Have you seen them in St.Petersburg?

No I haven't seen them here, though the weather has been unseasonably warm and sunny here lately up to 15c (59F), but set to change as snow is forecast for next week.:(

Hi Terry, I trust you will share with us sometime the circumstances and motivations which led to your being in St. Petersburg. An interesting and historic city I know, but not a typical retirement location for a Brit.

Yes Josiah I will start a new thread on the story shortly, I am not actually retired in St.Petersburg, but do spend several months here spread over 4 or 5 trips a year from the UK.
