While there are warnings in part of my state, we don't have a Tor-Con today, but I see many of you do. Ohio, (Tor-Con 7 in much of the state) Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama... I think maybe even parts of West Virginia and it will probably expand. Stay safe, everyone, and check in when you're able if you're in the path. I had forgotten how often the hatches have to be battened down starting at this time of year. 🥺

Yes... determined by the chance of a tornado... when conditions are ripe for it. I usually get 2's and 3's here... sometimes higher. But the 7's some places have today are kind of scary. @hollydolly
have you ever been in a Tornado Kate ?...

A tornado tore the roof off my house in Spain when I was home alone.. terrifying. I called my husband who was in England, really terrified as the tornado ripped up the palm tree from the side of our house.. and he told me to ''stop panicking'' .. !!

Directly in, no. Very close a few times, yes. One went through my parents' town years ago and I was there right after... and I've heard the "freight train sound" a few times. A year or so ago, there was one a couple miles from here. That must have been horrible for you being in that alone and then to have it brushed off like it was nothing when you tried to reach out. :(

There was an EF3 tornado here in 1998. A RARE thing in upstate NY. It passed about a mile from where I was living then. It wasn't the wind that was frightening - it was the constant lightning and thunder. And I have a vague memory of one in the 1970s that was about 5 miles away. It wasn't a biggun' - barely a dust devil.

I’ve been in a tornado when I was a kid. We were camping at a campsite close to a racing track . My dad wanted to watch the car racing live and while they were gone, my mom and I were hit with a tornado. Our trailer was ok but many of those around us weren’t. The outhouses were ripped up from the ground leaving big holes in the ground.

Then about 5 years ago we were in the outskirts of a tornado. It ripped the roofs off many houses and many huge trees were pulled up by their roots. It was about 10 miles from where we lived. Where we lived was called tornado lane. Then last year we were directly hit by hurricane Fiona. Luckily our house wasn’t hit too badly but we did lose a few trees.

We're under a high alert until 10:pm tomorrow night.

It was 40 years ago tomorrow [I think] that there was major outbreak in this area . I worked clean-up ... what a mess . I saw a safe blown through the roof of a church, and a 2X4 driven into a telephone pole.
Yeah, I saw that tomorrow is going to be even worse for Ohio... so stay safe! I know that Xenia was early April, too... 1974... I think that was an f5. :( @rgp

We lived in Fairborn, just a few miles from Xenia, when the big one hit. Afterward, people from Xenia moved into our townhouse complex and, for a few years, they would all be hiding in their basements at the least hint of bad weather. Poor things. The day it happened I set out with my son to walk him to kindergarten and something about the weather, the silence and stillness, made me turn him around and go home.
