Hollywood Actresses Caught Up In College Cheating Scandal

Sorry, I didn't see your thread before I started another one.

I think this has been going on a long, long time. The snobby "We're rich so we can buy our kids way into a top rated elite college" mindset. to heck with the peons who do it the hard way.

Been this way since time began. Those who wait and those who get waited on.

Nothing to be sorry about. This happens and I've done the same. It's still a developing story.

Saw where the Huffman kid bribed an SAT proctor to give the daughter extra time and correct answers. Makes you wonder what criteria the SAT company use to hire proctors even if contracted or volunteer teachers.

And absolutely this has been going on. As more details come out I'm sure more famous names will drop. These people got caught and apparently left enough evidence. Think about all the parents that don't get caught or their actions/bribes are considered normal, not even a crime to cover up.

Whoa. The Feds don't mess around.
Came to Felicity Huffman's house @ 6am with guns drawn, cuffed her, and took her to jail.

Saw that. Also courtroom drawings with husband actor William H Macy looking on. Some say he should've been charged because apparently he participated in some of the communications. Doesn't look good for alot of these participants because the middle man who laundered the donations through a set up charity confessed. Also one of the daughters was caught on video saying she wanted to go to college for the parties and game day. Also made some money off of being accepted being in college. Should add some of the named colleges have already fired or suspended employees involved.

Also thought I saw or heard they stumbled upon this while investigating something else. This seems as big as they are promoting

And again these people got caught but how many didn't. A commentator said college admissions are a game of sorts to begin with and that's why people wind up gaming the system. It's the norm for some.

That's a good one. They can hire a lawyer that got through the easy way.

This is a very sad scandal on so many levels.

If your kid is that dumb why on earth would you throw away millions to get them into a college where they can't possibly survive/thrive.

It would be much cheaper to wait a few years and buy a degree on the internet.

I asked my daughter that. My 15 year old grandson has his eye on Stanford and he has the grades for it but his older brother is at Cal Poly....he’s average.

My daughter said these Universities grade differently..once you’re in. Grading is on a curve or I forget what she said but it amounted to...once you’re in, you’ll stay in but I’ll have to ask her again...I’m not 100% sure

At Cal Poly oldest grandson has to work hard to get his grades and he’s almost been on academic probation once.

Also besides being very expensive these schools are very hard to get into...you need the grades, the test scores, community service hours, excel in something like sports etc.

Or maybe these cheaters continue cheating somehow in College.

Even Cal Poly where my oldest grandson goes is not easy to get in....they only accept a certain amount and many are for out of state students because obviously out of state pays more in tuition.

The poor, bright kids who studied hard to get into some of these schools that were turned away due to enrollment limits. That is the real shame. Their lives ruined over the greedy rich who think they can just buy anything.
Wonder how their kids feel today, watching their parents go to jail?

Yes...part of that Youtube video was on the nightly news last night. Truly disgusting. She's a clueless, spoiled brat. She just wants to go to college to party...she actually said that. Shameful.

Their kids aren't dumb. And it's certainly not about saving money by buying a cheap degree online.

Their kids are lazy, spoiled, and have a sense of entitlement - that's all the fault of the PARENTS.

The parents have instilled a sense of morality which tells the kids that money can buy anything and working hard is a waste of effort. Just write a check.

Also, prestige and the parent's ego comes into play. At a cocktail party it feels better to say "My son/daughter is at Yale" (vs an 'average' college).

I'm glad the Feds woke Felicity Huffman up at 6am and put handcuffs on her.

This was the parents fault in more ways than one. With all the money and resources celebrity parents have access to why didn't they spend that money on private or prep schools, life coaches(hate them but they apparently work for a few), an actual charity having the kid WORK there at the sametime. Their parents status could've gotten them numerous legal introductions, internships, apprenticeships etc. Worse case scenario is pay for a year remedial college required course work then reapply. But when your child goes on the internet and says I want to go to college to party that's a failure in more ways in one in itself for starters being it's advocating chemical intoxication and associated life. One would also assume they would be censoring their child just to protect their's and kids reputation. What is it about internet and there forever don't they understand.

Once again if you are rich and famous, you think you are above the law and better than everybody else
Felicity and Lori's careers are over,I hope they spend some time in the 'big house'

Cheating on college exams is nothing new. A few years ago, the University of Missouri had a major scandal involving football players who spent more of their time on the field and in the gym than they did in classes....and had "proxy" students taking their exams, etc. When it comes down to a choice between Education and Big Money, Money Always wins.

Yup. I've heard of cheating scams for decades. What's troubling here is that one of the girls had to be classified as disabled or having a disability. Which means did a doctor lie for the family or they simply can claim a disability without documentation? Doctors already diagnose things like attention deficit disorder in order to prescribe the drugs most like for baby sitting purposes of the parents and teachers.

Kicked to the curb...

Hallmark dropped Lori Loughlin (ouch, bet that puts a huge dent in her checkbook)

Sephora Cosmetics dumped her daughter Olivia

Oh, well. :whome:
