House Panel Says Women Should Register for Draft

If one believes in equal rights under the law, then both sexes must also bear the same responsibilities. For those who would argue we don't need women if we had to reinstate the draft, then they should accept men are entitled to preferential treatment, like making more money for the same work. Then again, the draft could be eliminated as it is involuntary servitude.
 
Old people too? Maybe we should send them first since they've already lived most of their lives. Imagine trying to read a map in dim light or drive a jeep or some other vehicle over rough terrain. Arguing is what we do best, so deciding who should take that hill would be interesting. What do you mean I have no opinion?!! I'm 75! I earned the right to my opinion, youngster!
 
IMO it makes sense to have every American register for the draft.

I also think that the notion of old people registering for some form of national service is not all that far-fetched.

I wouldn't mind stepping up to help in a Senior Corp. if it could be done in my own community.

The "why now" answer is that it is long over due. At least for those who believe in equal rights.

As for a coming HUGE conflict, I am increasingly concerned that China is becoming more and more aggressive. They are now claiming large swaths of the South China Sea that is far, far outside their territorial waters. Freedom of the seas is at stake. I just hope they don't invade Taiwan . That has catastraphy written all over it.

It’s sad that we require all naturalized citizens to take an oath when many native born Americans don’t see their obligation to take up arms in defense of the United States.

Full Oath of Allegiance to the United States

Would you want your daughter or granddaughter to be placed in an infantry unit in a hostile conflict?

If she were captured what might happen to her?

I expect an armed conflict will come from within, rather than from outside the U.S. There are huge numbers of angry AND armed extremists in this country, and they are aching for a civil war. The January 6th insurrection was just a sample of things to come. That's O.K., if they want to play, I'm ready.
 
oh you all think your daughter is a sissy? I can tell you now that there are many out there that could beat the crap out of a man very easily, training to handle fighter jets, large war ships at sea, heavy guns,,, etc.. I dont know what wwiii will be fought with but einstein says wwiv wil be fought with sticks and stones, so maybe that will give you some idea.....

IMO all that is missing is a charismatic leader to bring them all together and organize their efforts.

We live in sad and scary times.

israel tried for years unsuccesfully to have woman and men in the same unit. the death rate of the men was to high as them trying to save the women...but israel does have women in uniform in their own units, all women...and boy are they mean!
 
aunt bea; there have been religious zealots in america from the beginning that will NOT fight yet live here and enjoy all the privileges...

There is nothing stopping women from volunteering. When the nation is under serious threat, many will do so.
