has any one ever done a home swap / for a holiday 'either different county -or country ' to be honest I quite like the idea '
all you pay is the fair, stay in some ones home for 2 weeks everything is there what you need ' but of course you would do
a survey on area and if it suits both of you -many people go for this type of exchange rather than a hotel which I find more relaxing
let me know what you think 'and why you would not like the idea ………….

I've only seen it in a Christmas movie. It was a great adventure. Not able to do it personally but am interested in what others think.

Did it once back in early 80s. Connected through one of the exchange organizations about 6 months prior to exchange and we corresponded by both letter and phone until we got to know one another. They: young family from small town in southern England. Me: home in Florida. Exchanged cars also. It went well and we remained friends for years after.

Would I do it now? No. Times have changed.

I would never want to do that for several reasons. I wouldn't like strangers in my home. I would think it would take quite a bit of time making sure you have all items safely put away that you don't want seen or touched. I can only imagine coming home and seeing something that means a lot to me smashed or cracked because someone just had to handle it.
Also with my cleaning/ocd problem I would be cleaning for days before they arrive and making sure everything they might need is in easy reach. This would also be a problem when I got to their home.
Washing dishes before I use them, being so careful around their items. Leaving their home would be another issue. Cleaning up their place so it is exactly how they left it and probably doing more than I need to.
Seems like a lot of extra work when I'm suppose to be on vacation.

I'd love to swap my place. I just put a new roof on, spent a fortune on repairs from a broken pipe, which spewed water when I was in the hospital. I need a new motor in the dishwasher, I had a new filter put in the clothes washer, and I'm having new doors and widows put in. And my 30 year old furnace decided it doesn't want to live to be 31. Damn A right, I'd love to switch!

I knew someone whose friend in Australia traveled a lot and always house swapped, hardly ever paid for hotels. Eventually she even used her house as an AirNb. I would be very uncomfortable staying in someone's house and them staying in mine.

I'm not really favourable about it, But Lorie and her sisters and Mom have stayed in a couple of Airbnb's and they say it's a lot nicer, and a lot more relaxing than a hotel...
