How cheap are you?

ah but you have a beautiful home.. and very nice clothes... and your hubs has a lovely car... so if you buy quality in the first place there's no need to replace in the second place... :D
Awww thank you, and I give you props for being so observant over the years! Yes, it's all about quality and buying things that will last and will still be in style for years to come.

Years ago when I worked in Amsterdam, one of the team was a great American guy - let's call him Bob. In the office was a copier, and when you made multiple copies of large documents, it would insert a coloured sheet of paper between them. These sheets were usually discarded, so I collected them and gave them to Mrs.L who worked in an infants school and gave them to the kids.

One day before Christmas, Bob finally asked me what I wanted these coloured sheets for. I told him that we cut them into strips to make paper chains to decorate the house and so we didn't have to spend any money. Bob was shocked and announced to the entire department, Captain, you're so cheap. This caused great peels of laughter and our project leader said that I shouldn't 'wind up' Bob as he had difficulty with British humour.
I think that was great saving the paper for a childrens school. I also did the same thing. I worked for a large printing company when they decided to close our branch. It was a 25,000 square foot facility and we had tons of blank paper of all different kinds. It was all going to trash. I contacted corporate and asked if if it was okay to donate to my elementary school. With the company approval, my childs school was able to come and take muliple truck loads for use in the school. They were so gratefull and I bet they did not have to buy paper for many years.

I had to laugh at myself last night. I sat down to have a nice can of Coke, pouring it into my "cup". This thread immediately came to mind.

See - I drink my Coke from an old Pot Noodles container. :D

I just liked the colors on the pot, and decided they worked as good as any glass. Of course, I look ultra low brow drinking from it.

Do you ever eat something you really don't care for just so it won't go to waste? I will. I was raised that you don't waste food. I feel guilty if I don't clean my plate.

this is a problem for some people who need to eat less to lose weight (not saying that is you, just a general comment)

it is sometimes hard to re-train oneself that it is Ok to not to finish what is on the plate, it doesn't benifit or change things for anyone else if you eat it vs throwing it out.

Diluting soap??? Can't one just use less? Diluting dish soap is definitely cheap. Here's a hint, just buy Dawn dish soap instead they have already watered it down for you.

Here's a couple ideas that actually save money and produce a great result. Make your own crackers and salad dressings instead of store bought.

I had a college roommate who maintained that he wasn’t cheap, he was just “highly selective.” Cheapness may not have to be a thing, with proper presentation!

I knew a guy at work who was so cheap that he reused the same sandwich bag with his lunch every day! He thought that he was ever so clever. This probably wasn’t hygienic after a while…eww! 🤢

I don’t consider myself cheap, but like to haunt flea markets, second hand stores, or consignment shops not that I can’t afford new, but like to tinker, fix, repurpose, and refurbish stuff as “projects.” I can get a bargain high!

And wouldn’t The Phantom of the Consignment Shop be a great title for a short story? 🤔

Widow-I also reuse plastic baggies, to try being a little more ecological. It also helps that our garbage pick-up company composts "greens", which includes paper products like paper napkins, paper towels, cardboard boxes contaminated with food (such as pizza boxes).

Otherwise, I can't say I look for bargains on anything, except maybe gas. Our SUV takes premium, so a 50-cent difference is noticeable, LOL!

We are fortunate to have enough discretionary income to not have to budget strictly any longer. Been there, done that; it wasn't fun and I'm happy not to do it any longer.

They cost $19.99. I handed the clerk a $20 bill and she asked if I wanted the penny back. I said, "I'm not leaving without it. You watch the pennies and the dollars take care of themselves."
It bothers me when cashiers ask if I want my change back. Of course I do. It's mine. The store doesn't need it more than I do.

If carrying around change was a hassle, I can donate it. I wouldn't choose my store as a charity.

My wife wanted to try this buffet since it has good reviews.

How much is a bacchanal buffet?

Regular dinner price is $79.99 per person plus tax (price is subject to change on holidays, and without notice).

Located in: Caesars Palace
Address: 3570 Las Vegas Blvd S, Las Vegas, NV 89109

We tried it on Saturday Mar. 2nd. That subject to change was in effect for crab legs. $89.00 per person. That plus $25.00 tip put us in the " not cheap " category.

I want value for money spent. I don't know who does the reviews but the value isn't there. The only good part of the meal was the dessert. Some kind of small flaky cup filled a vanilla flavored pudding.

If anyone plans on visiting Las Vegas, DON'T waste your money at the bacchanal buffet

I'm so cheap a packet of 50 small sandwich bags has lasted for over 2 years. Reusing them regularly,
I'm so cheap I reuse glad wrap, sticking it to my fridge.
I'm so cheap I cut my own hair with clippers I bought for $29 4 years ago. Barbers would have cost me over $400.
I'm so cheap I turn every power outlet off when I go out. The only thing left on is the fridge.
I'll re-use sandwhich bags and wax paper and wax paper bags also.

I can outdo you on the hair cutting. I use dollar store scissors. :D

I'd turn the surge protector off on the computer when not in use but I need it for the phone.

I use the old dog food bags when I clean out the fridge, they are lined and do not leak. The trash truck loves it as nothing leaks.
I have some back up small trash bags. But mostly I use empty bread, chip, pet food bags for garbage. I also find still folded produce bags in carts at WINCO Foods with some frequency. No I don't use those for food, only trash. I will re-use produce bags if they are still clean. If not, a garbage bag.
