How Disiplined Are You?

I guess I could be considered a Disiplined Person or maybe Compulsive. I will always make my bed, do the dishes, clean the shower & toilet even if I am not feeling particularly well. I will always pay a bill that is due a little early but never late. I make sure that I exercise regularly and eat properly. Sometimes I think I should just say The Hell With It and let some things go, just for a change, but I can't. It would drive me batty to let things go.

Oh no , I would drive you batty too Lon...I hate routine , so I do things when I please...if I don't wish to make the bed in the morning I'll happily make it later in the day...I eat good quality food, but my diet is sometimes eclectic and certainly not eaten at regular times..all my bills get paid slightly early..that's the only thing I'm pedantic about...but if I'm feeling poorly or just in a couldn't care less mood everything else can wait, and I might just stuff myself with cake

Good question Lon.

I am a disciplined, organized person. Lately I haven't felt on top of the world and I have been tired and things got behind, but I stayed up all night until it was all organized again on Friday night. I can't function under a mess or confusion.

I pay bills the minute they arrive in the mail (there is only one :p). But even when I had more than one, they got paid immediately. I wouldn't sleep if I knew I owed any money. I wouldn't go out the door without my bed being made up properly.
I have left a few dishes in the sink if I had to meet an appt and there wasn't time, but that doesn't happen very often.

The one thing that I am very disappointed in with my self-discipline is my paper work around my desk. It has become a pile of work, but this is the first time that has ever happened. I am going to clean that up this week and get everything in it proper files.
I was looking for something important and I got frantic as it wasn't where it should have been, so I made a big mess.

I'm with you Holly, I don't follow any set of rules when it comes to doing the chores, there's no rhyme nor reason as to when or if things get done, and they do, in my own good time. I'm very good about paying bills on time though and if I have an appointment or someone is coming to visit, I make sure I'm there and ready, but I'm definitely not obsessive and it would drive me crazy to live with a perfectionist.

I'm the same as Cookie.........Well, not exactly the same, but with her thoughts about when to do chores.

I'll tidy up if company's coming but that's all. Too much stress otherwise.

Bill paying isn't a worry; they're all on "automatic" pay.

Have to admit I’m more like Lon – disciplined, almost compulsive. Right now my carpet needs cleaned and I’ve been putting it off. Can no longer stand it, so I’ll be taking care of that this week. I have a regular routine for most chores/tasks, even small ones. I also check my bank and credit card transactions every day. Good thing – I found an error a few weeks ago.

I like everything to be tidy - a place for everything and everything in its place. I always make my bed, always show up on time and always send thank you notes. I make To Do lists and check things off methodically. I like being frugal (although I am generous toward friends and family). Yes, I'm disciplined - or is there another word that would describe me more accurately? ;)

I am not a slob, but I am sure as hell not like Lon in many ways. I have a very high credit score but only because my wife is so good with our accounting. I hate absolute routine, I enjoy spontaneity. Put me down as somewhere between the anal retentive obsessives and the freeloader in Moms basement.

I'm like Holly and Cookie, no rules just right. I do things when I'm ready to do them, no strict schedule. My bed gets made once a day, not always necessarily in the morning. Sometimes dishes stay in the sink for awhile, but I like to get them all done and sink clean before bed (we use paper plates when appropriate).

My bills are always paid early, and I am always on time or early for appointments. I'm reliable, if I say I'll be there to pick you up at 2 o'clock, I will be there by 2. Like Jim, my better half is very good with the finances, and made sure our credit score was always high. Now that we're retired, I pay all the bills, but I took his lead into doing that the most responsible way. Nowhere near anal or OCD here, pretty easy going about most things/chores.

My diet now that I'm older is generally healthy, but I will have treats when I'm in the mood, life is too short to deny myself too much, as long as it's not making me sick.

Over our 50 years of marriage, I've been "trained well"! :>) Bed is made immediately after the last person arises in the morning. (I spend a lot of time in motels. I make my bed in the hotel each morning before going to work.) Dishes are done every evening before we go to bed. I put them away when I am making breakfast the next morning.

We pay our bills ahead of time. I fill the gas tank on vehicles when they hit 1/4 tank. To run them lower and you have a chance of condensation build up. We're always early for appointments and meetings. Some would suggest... OCD!! :>)

Our second daughter is extremely OCD. When they were first married, before the kids, she would even have things in her pantry arranged alphabetically. With three kids, she has lost some of the obsessiveness around the house. Her OCD, however, has taken her far in her career.

Hubby makes the bed in our house , as soon as he gets up( I useally get up at least 15 Minuites before him) he drives me batty sometimes things just can't wait till another day as far as he is concerned :):) where I'm more laid back and put it off till tomorrow if I don't feel like doing it that day ....However the bills are always paid well before due date.. I'm always early for doctors appointments....I useally want to get that over and done with I hate sitting in a doctors waiting room...

I'm the undisciplined variety when to come to daily routine. My definition of retirement is "I do what I like, when I like and if I like".

I'm pretty much the same. Although I do play golf in the morning at a set time. Only because I have a big group I meet. But other than that, I do things when I like. As far as house cleaning goes, I do it......but not on any certain day. Just when I get can't stand looking at the mess any longer. ;)

Look up "helter skelter" in the dictionary and my face will be there. I do pay my bills on time and I get my library books back to the library early, but as for everything else..... Oh, but I AM punctual. I'm just bad at leaving things laying around and putting off stuff I don't want to do.

I am married to your sister!!!!!!! not_worthy.gif

I am punctual, I pay my bills on time, but housework is not my life. My bed is made whenever i get to it, my house clean, but not always tidy.,you should see my immaculate garden! I am disciplined about my diet because I have to watch my weight big time. I inherited the fat gene from my father. I love fudge, but pay for it with extra miles on the treadmill. Lol I love spontaneity and fun. Sailing, rollerblading, falling off my skateboard repeatedly.... I grew up surrounded by perfectionism, ick! Give me the warm fuzzy people every time. Lol

I prefer to take life as it comes, but I do like a neat, clean environment. I AM compulsive about physical fitness and work out daily. I'm also compulsive about eating healthy.
