How do you consider age?

I have noticed throughout life how different ages treat
age or ageing.

Children.
very young ones tell the truth when you ask how old
they are, as they get older, they add years to their age,
even in their teens.

Young adults.
Are like very young children, they tell the truth until
they are in their mid to late 30s, then they start to
take years off, this happens till they become middle
aged.

Middle aged are different, some add years and some
remove years until they are Seniors.

Seniors mainly add years, though some do remove years,
though not many people do that nor do they remove too
many years.

How do you see your age, or have seen your age during
your life?

Personally I have never felt the need to alter my actual
age, but I have been accused of overstating it as I look
a bit younger than I really am.

Likewise, Mike. My age just IS . . . always has been. Each stage of life has its particular advantages and disadvantages but we rarely see those clearly except in hindsight. Part of God's amazing plan.
 
Some of my female friends tend to be shy about saying how old they are. Not me lol! I have a tendency to forget how old I am, but I'm sure not shy about sharing it!

When I was in my mid teens though, I wanted to be older, and sometimes fibbed about my age just for the hell of it, telling people I was 18 or 19 when I was just barely 15 and it was believable because I looked older than I was.
 

I've never cared if people know my age. People are always telling me I look much younger than I am. Reminded me of something funny:
Up to age 50, I helped many co-workers & friends move. But I stopped doing that after 50 because I knew heavy lifting would likely cause an injury. But co-workers still kept asking me & when I'd tell them I was too old - over 50, they didn't believe me. A few years later, I decided to shave off my moustache (which was starting to get some white in it). A co-worker told me I looked better without it because I looked 15 years younger. Then people started asking me to help them move again, so I grew it back & it worked. No one asked me to help them move again.
 
I've always told the truth about my age, even now at 66. I'm not so vain as to hide it, and getting old is better than the alternative.
 
I told my real age until I hit 29. Then for about 10 years I was 28. Most people bought that, until I was in my early40s. Then nobody bought it. After my second ex and I broke up, there was no reason to fudge my age. I was officially an old geezer.
 
People usually think I'm younger than I am so when I meet someone new and they guess wrong I'm flattered and I don't correct them. :rolleyes::love_heart:
 
I never had a problem telling anyone how old I was. There was a time,probably in my early 30's, that I honestly couldn't remember my age if I was asked on the spur of the moment. I think it was because I was busy with my job,my kids and had such a full life. The years seemed endless and just blended all together.
 
An elderly friend of mine who is in her 90s always added
years to her age, no I don't know why either, I always
knew her age, she was a good friend of my mother, they
always played bridge together, anyway she has now forgot
what her age is, she keeps telling that she is 96, when she
is really 93, but I don't have the heart to correct her.

I have always been and acknowledged my true age. Both when young, and now. Had an acquaintance who often would subtract 5-8 years from her true age. Thing is, she was not kidding anyone. She looked good, for her true age, but looked OLD, if you believed she was younger.
My feeling is that we need to be happy with who we are and where we are in life.
 
I used to have a coworker who was convinced that she "looks so young for her age." Geesh. I did a mental eye-roll every time she said that and wondered how dark it is around her mirror. I actually would have guessed her to be 10-15 years older than she was.
 
Sometimes I'll say, "I am 37 years old with 30 years of experience.

I knew a woman who swore she never lied about her age. When people asked her how old she was, she'd say, "I'm the same age as my husband." Then she'd lie about his age.

my brain makes me think iam 20s still ...
 
I recall ages ago when I turned 33 and for some reason thought my life was over..I cried! I have come to accept getting older and old. I will be 62 this year and don't lie about my age.
 
Heh, lied about my age from about 15 to 20

I looked older (freaking red haired albino Irish)

Barkeeps hardly ever ID’d me



But, yeah, lost track of my actual age from mid-twenties to 40

Then, kept track, as each decade seemed a mark


And now 70?!!
