How do you deal with the colder weather?

I have absolutely no idea.....it seldom gets THAT cold here. We'll have a few days of cold weather, well at least what WE consider cold weather....you guys in the North would consider it picnic weather.....and we put our long pants and hoodies on and shiver a lot. Then it's back to shorts and flip-flops.

I make it a point.

Every year when winter comes.

I wait for the worst storm with the highest winds.

I bundle up, face the wind, and say out loud. O.K. you s.o. b. I beat you last year and I'm going to beat you this year.

Do your worst. i'm looking forward to it. If somebody saw me they would think I was a mad man and they would be right.

I bundle up from head to toe. I have had to cover up so much that you couldn't see anything but my eyes but it kept me warm!

I'm already dealing with it,wearing turtlenecks/long pants.
On my early morning walks around 6:30 or so,wearing a jacket or hoodie with my yellow reflector vest, a hat with gloves.
Last week from MOn-Weds,was wearing shorts temps were in the 80's Sue

Well if get snow, , I just put my down jacket coat on usually, and get in the warm car.. I always wear a hat.

If it's not too cold I'll just wear socks & Knee high boots, with jeans and a normal jacket, and my wool hat .

At home, I wear fleece lined jogging trousers... and a woolly jumper.. again only if the temps are really low, and we'll have the Central heating on as well..but usually only for an hour morning and night, that's enough to keep our house warm.

if it's just low temps instead of putting the heating on we'll just throw fleece throws over our legs while we watch tv..

It has to be freeeeeeeezing outside for me to have the heating on for longer than an hour or 2, or the fire lit in the grate

We dress according to the weather, and enjoy some brisk Winter weather, so long as we don't get housebound for days after a major snow storm. I get plenty of good exercise throughout the year harvesting dead trees in our forest, and use the wood to feed our outdoor wood furnace. It's great to be nice and warm inside without running up a huge electric bill....plus the work of gathering a Winter supply of firewood is a great means of getting some healthy exercise that pays dividends.

Warmer clothes, and my nice new warm slippers. Like dkay, I make more chili, soup and warm things. DH and I both have electric lap blankets. They work really well. We try not to keep the thermostat too high, though I am the one who often will break down and turn it up a bit.

I do not drink coffee, but DH got me some hot chocolate pods for the Kurig. I will had the flavored creamer to it, and it is great.

I left the East over 50 yrs ago and landed in Santa Monica. Love It...don't miss the drastic seasons for a second.

It gets chilly here and when my apt gets chilly I turn on wall heater for about 5 minutes monrning and into the evening for a little bit. Not long.

I wear socks all year since I deal with arthritis in my feet now so keep ointments on my feet.

I keep my heating pad close by and actually used it a couple times for lower back "chills".

It has gotten cooler at night the last week or so, like 50's and so apt is chilly and I am now wearing my hoodie....

My blood has THINNED in the 50some yrs of living here.

I don't have good memories of the cold and humidity of living in the East.

I try to plan ahead and keep my eye on the ten-day weather forecast so I don't have to venture out in the worst weather.

My vehicle is kept in a heated underground garage and is equipped with studded snow tires, a folding snow shovel, an extra hat, gloves, etc...

My little apartment has live steam heat and is like a tropical rain forest so I usually have the windows open.

I try to keep a plant or two blooming to brighten the gloomy days and remind me that spring is on its way.

It seldom gets THAT cold here. If it does, I simply dress warmer and turn up the thermostat to a more comfortable setting.

Really no problem. I also have full house A/C when it gets hot. Doesn't everybody?

I don't deal with the cold weather, I embrace it. If I had my way I wouldn't even turn on the heat. I wear sweats and sweaters and dress in layers for outside. I do like my feet to be warm though and have over size hunting socks that fit nicely into my high topped slippers for around the house. Warm afghans for my recliner, hot tea or coffee on my little warming plate nearby makes for a perfect evening of reading or watching TV with the hubby, who looks like a frozen turnip before we even have our first frost.

Always heard wood warms you twice, first while you're cutting and stacking and 2nd when its burning.
When my husband was alive thats all we used for heat,I have a tough time getting warm anymore

I live in the Northeast. I love the four seasons but have to admit that the winters feel as if they start sooner and last longer. Today's temperatures were in the 50s with a strong breeze and bright sunshine and it felt pretty invigorating. I took a walk and did some yard work.

I have a warm down comforter and heating blanket for the bed, a fireplace with a stove that can heat my small house, a stand-alone little heater if I need it and central heat if it really gets cold. My house is less than 900 sq ft so it's easy to heat in the winter and cool in the summer.

I have warm clothing for any changes of weather in winter, lighter jackets to my super warm down parka for blizzard type weather where the temps are in the teens or lower, so I'm never cold no matter how it is outdoors. If it's really cold I'll wear a wool cap (plus a hood if needed) and gloves, hiking boots in the snow.

Luckily it’s not too extreme in my part of the world, so warm clothes, warm home, warm food, hot drinks, hot water bottle, seems to do the trick

I drag out my winter underwear, dress in layers, and if I still get cold in the house, I wear a warm bathrobe over my clothes. Getting dressed in the winter is a huge PITA. I think about sunny, warm places. One of the biggest shocks about moving to the Northeast from the South was that sunny doesn't equal warm. Second biggest was that my "heavy" winter coat was an early fall coat in the Northeast. I was made for hot, humid weather. I'd rather sweat than shiver.

Wheatenlover..I totally agree about it being a PITA to dress in the winter. I was just saying that yesterday to someone. All the layers, to put on and take off again... unlike the summer where it's just throw on a dress or a top and shorts...
