How do you feel about men, over 60, with long hair?

I gotta agree on the "clean" part, having seen some that aren't. I don't care if it's long, short or nonexistant. Just clean and no comb overs please. I am not even too fond of hair care "products". Grooming is good, but by that I mean trimming and styling.

You better like my hair. :)

I've never been particularly fond of long hair on males of any age - nor of beards. I definitely prefer clean shaven. I'm not even particularly fond of very long hair in females either. Shoulder length is fine - beyond that is excessive. Color me old fashioned in that case!

Here I sit at 62 years with hair past my shoulders. I don't much care who likes it or not.

When I was a child my over worked mother used to line all five of us boys up and run the clippers over our heads. I had no choice I had no voice. I do have very clear memories of the burn of hot clipper and the smell of hot oil.

I went into the USMC and for four years I was forced by regulation under the threat of the UCMJ prison and less than honorable discharge to wear my hair in the most freakish configuration imaginable.

When I was discharged I did not get a hair cut for the four years as a way of healing.

In the 80's I would get my hair styled but maintenance was to much to often.

Don't even get me started on the guys that shave their heads. Nothing but a display of laziness.

With me it is a psychological thing about haircuts more than a love of long hair. It works for me, pocket of pony holders and I am good to go!
Long-haired ex-Canadian in his 70s here. Mine is salt-and-pepper and resting on my shoulders when out, but pulled back in a ponytail for occasions. Short-back-and-sides for first employment and hated it because I have large protruding ears which were always cold.

Absolutely hate old rockers that made long hair their thing, and suddenly they're all shaved-headed sad old geezers. I know there's MPB, but couldn't you wear some stylish hair system for concerts? I will not pay good money now to go and see people my age that look like my late father (Mick J being the exception; wouldn't see Elton if he were still going as he turned into a cranky, obnoxious cur who can now only sing his post-Nikita hits the way they were recorded).

@John Roberts, though it may be true for those you follow and wherever you live, but as one that has been strongly active in Classic Rock here in California, I can state, there are plenty of older rock musicians that still have at least moderately long hair. It is true many including this person don't wear their hair down to shoulders but rather to at least mouth level for the sake of negotiating society more smoothly.

What a timely topic, I haven't been to a barber since the Covid quarentine started. I've always worn my hair military style short, but I'm thinking I'll just let it grow for a while....

My hair does need a trim 'tho, barber shops and beauty salons have been allowed to reopen here in Calif., in that last couple weeks. I imagine the appointment list for haircuts is a mile long.
I thought I'd follow up on my thoughts previously posted in this thread Five years ago- back then during the Covid lockdown I did let my hair grow, for maybe about 6 or 7 months...it just wasn't me. Nowadays I tell the barber to do a #2 on the sides and a #4 on top, and trim the ear hair and eyebrows please.

But, I don't care one way or another if other men have shoulder length hair, there's several at the gym and it's no big deal.

Most women agree that men who shave their heads look much better than those who employ the comb-over sweep, or the long-haired, bearded eggshell look, or wear toupees/wigs.

Aren't old rockers (like everyone else) entitled to embrace different hairstyles throughout their lives, rather than remaining stuck with whatever they embraced 40-50 years ago?

I have a male friend who wears his hair very long and I understand why. He's always clean. He just likes long hair. He's eighty. I like long hair and keep my own very long even though I'm a woman. I don't think hair length should make a difference between people. We did that enough in the 'sixties.

I think we should do what makes us feel good. Some of us care what other people think. Some of us dont.

Now if youre asking my opinion I would say depends on how much hair you have and the shape of your face.
If your hair is down to your azz but you have to wear a hat cause youre bald then thats not the look for you.

people need to really Look in the mirror before leaving home, no matter who you are or age. Get an honest opinion from spouse or friend if you can't decide. Most men especially look younger and cleaner it shorter hair and least close cropped beards. And women our ages should never wear pants that state Juicy on the back,Dried up maybe:D:D:D:D

Had a couple service guys at the house just this week, one of them probably early 60’s with white hair down to the middle of his back…didn’t look bad at all. That music he played for two full days was a tad hard to take 😂 but to each their own!
..as most people know here I keep my hair long...too this is 2 pics of my hair in the last 12 months.. there are more

I wouldn't like a man to have hair as long as mine

A few years ago, I let my hair grow long. My brother and I had tickets to see Iron Maiden, and the concert was 8 months away.

I figured, why not? One last hurrah, go to a heavy metal concert with long hair, as I had done so many times, so many years ago.

I'll tell you, towards the end, it was becoming a chore to wash my hair, and I found myself wondering how I didn't go crazy all those years ago, constantly pushing my hair out of my eyes.

I got it cut soon after the concert (which was awesome! Maiden Rules!!🥁🎸🤘), and haven't had it long since. Too much work.

So does my wife but she ties it up into two tails, one on each temple. I encourage here to get an old lady, short cut for the felling of freedom that gives me. But she isn't quite ready.

The only older guys, that look good to me, with long hair are American Indian men and only if braided.
