My vision has worsened with age, I never wore glasses but I'm 65 now and been using over-the-counter readers for a long time, at 1.75 power. They're still good for reading books or magazines, but small print on bottles of vitamins, etc. are almost impossible to read now. I don't get eye exams every year, but I have an appointment this month for a checkup. The doctor last time said that I can keep using the readers, but I'm thinking I may need to start wearing glasses, mainly for reading things, so I imagine they would be bi-foculs...we'll see.
Last time the doctor said that there's no problems now, but there may be a sign of macular degeneration beginning in the future. I have abused my eyes all my life, never liked wearing sunglasses, etc. Now I force myself to wear them on sunny days, especially when snow is on the ground. I also take supplements for my eyes like Lutein, vitamin D3, etc. I do have one small spot, like a brownish spot in the vision of my left eye that needs to be checked out. I used an eye wash and always use eye drops, but it doesn't rinse away, maybe a floater?
